Darby is a video community of DIY makers. We've become accustomed to learning how to do things from YouTube... which is a 1-way broadcasting experience. Darby is live, where DIY makers can take questions, interact, and make things together with their audience. When I was at Meerkat the DIY streams where always fun to see, makers perfect sense for there to be a dedicated app for this (and a huge community around it already...) and the app is really quite gorgeous. The makers @nicolefarb & @elgcreative will be here to answer any questions, ask away 💫

I've always been an active pinner on Pinterest for these DIY type tutorials, but this is the candy store version of DIY videos. I had some quick feedback on the UI of your website! https://www.opentest.co/share/fb... This is so cool :)

Hello! At Darby Smart we've learned that the maker community needs a space to chat with one another about what inspires them. Using creative videos as the impetus, we've built an app that enables makers of all levels to ask questions, share ideas, and encourage each other. We promise there's a video for everyone on Darby, with new ones added daily. We hope you enjoy!

Ah, would've been nice if content creators got a commision ala affiliate links for the products bought and used in their DIY's (or maybe they do, but I couldn't find the info). Nice work!
Erin Grimm
@trellwest thanks! Darby isn't commerce driven. We're laser-focused on connecting aspiring makers to content and its creators through chat. The content creators in our app are very excited to connect to users in this way. We also offer them a link back to their blog or website!

@elgcreative It could be a great idea to implement as a way for authors to monetize with amazon affiliate links due to the traffic your site would bring them. Sort've similiar to what rewardstyle offers.

It's target is just women. Even though I'm sorry, I have to point out, it's a total no no in the age of gender equality. And does not comply with the law and normative regarding this issue at least in the EU.' Moreover, any service having and easy way to subscribe cannot have an almost almost impossible procedure to unsubscribe. That would be a second no no in the age of transparency, this type of sites often called SPAMMERS. At least, under EU regulations and normative, you are not complying with the consumers rights directive and the directive that regulates the delivery of electronic services; both laws carry heavy fines in case of non compliance and also the possibility of being banned from doing business within the European Union (even if the company resides outside of the EC). These would be the main reasons why I can recommend your service.

@abetancort what are you even talking about
Alfonso C. Betancort
@nivo0o0 I say that although being an easy way to subscribe there is no clear way to unsubscribe, such activities are classified as SPAMMING (email harvesting), and both are illegal and prosecuted in the EU under EU Laws an normative. If a service subscribes you easily, it must let you unsubscribe as easy or more. Not doing so it's a practice equivalent to what's called in brick and mortar commerce "bait and switch" which doesn't stand up to any best practices standards. And that it is what Darby is doing. If you do need further clarification, contact me, I will gladly explain myself further.

Nice! But, why put that awful banner SAY HELLO TO that which prevents me from seeing the site , with no option to close!
