Literally used Daily yesterday. My mom was able to screen share, so I could remotely troubleshoot her computer. Just to underline: It was so easy, my mom was able to use it.

@jimgibbs Thank you! Hardest working son in the galaxy -- remote tech support. :-)

Hi Product Hunt, and thanks to @justinkan for hunting us! Last year, our team launched inexpensive hardware for video conferencing here on Product Hunt, and now we're back with a pure software release. We think video calling is super interesting. More and more people depend on video calls to get their work done every day. And using video regularly completely changes how remote teams work together. Our goal all the way along has been to build the communications tools that *we* want to use. We think video calls should feel like a natural part of your life and your workflows. Daily lets you set up a URL that's all yours, manage teams and rooms in a simple dashboard interface, and join calls without downloading any softaware. Features we're most proud of so far: - Personalized and human-readable call URLs, like kwindla.daily.co/hello, and acme-hq.pluot.co/eng-standup - No software download needed - Dial-in numbers for every call - Two people can screen share at the same time - 50-people can be in a call at the same time - Super-simple team management and meetings privacy/permissions - All of ^^^ is free! - Everything works on our Pluot hardware, too, if you want an affordable, zero-admin video calling appliance for your conference rooms. What we're working hardest on right now: - Safari and Edge support. (Right now we're Chrome-only.) - Meeting recording We'd love to hear what you think of Daily, what we can do better, and what features you'd like to see us add. Now go get the custom URL you want, before somebody else does! :-)
Kwindla Kramer
@justinkan @adithya Thanks!!! You're right - up to 50 people in a meeting. Also, dial-in telephone numbers for 20+ countries, so people can join by phone, too, if that's more convenient. We're testing/tweaking for Chrome on Android, and working on iOS as well. We should be able to launch full mobile device support soon, At the moment, we're not planning any premium software features. We are going to keep launching new features -- meeting recording, an API -- but we're trying to offer as much as we can for free. (We can do this because we *do* offer our hardware appliance as a premium service. The hardware is how we make money.) We'd love to hear what you'd like us to add/improve/change!
Nur Myrza
@justinkan @kwindla are you planning custom domain.xyz service?
Kwindla Kramer
@nur_myrza A couple of people have asked us about that. You're thinking of being able to use any domain, not just xyz.daily.co? If so, it's something that's on our todo list, but will require some more backend code on our part, and will only work for people who have control over their own DNS. In the meantime, here's something that will work ... There's a really neat service -- http://redirect.name/ -- that lets you set up an HTTP redirect using only DNS records. Using redirect.name, you can set up http://something.domain.xyz to redirect to https://your-domain.daily.co/a-room You can set up as many of those redirects as you want to (you just need to be able to add CNAME and TXT records to your DNS. The only slightly less than optimal thing is that the redirecting URL can only be http, not https.

@justinkan @kwindla This looks amazing! I will try it for sure. :) Be sure to check out our tool , it will be very interesting to you. https://www.producthunt.com/upco...

How does this compare to Join.me?
Stephen Meszaros
Hey @rrhoover. Great question! In building Daily we placed a focus on removing as many barriers to getting into your meeting as possible. Meaning that we do not require any downloads; Daily meetings simply work in Chrome (with Safari and Edge support coming soon). We also offer free 50 person calls, dual screen sharing, no meeting time limits, international dial-in to 20+ countries (currently) and team/meeting room management. Regarding team/meeting room management. With Daily you’re able to manage your meeting type by: locking it so that only your team members can join, locking it so that anyone with the link must knock, or making it public (anyone can join without an account). I hope that answers your question, happy to elaborate where we can 👍

We've been using this product since it's inception. I've used all of the other platforms and this is by far the easiest. Quality is great. No software, just click on a link and it works. (Disclosure: i've had access to the product since inception because we are also investors.)

Pros:

Easy and works every time!

Cons:

Meeting recording would be great

Justin Kan
Nice work guys. The teams dashboard to put your teammates on the same URL is dope!
nina k
Wow, thank you for all the sign-ups! Our team has been working hard, so the support and interest from the Product Hunt community is awesome. We've pulled our "we want to work on these, soon" list of features from our product planning Trello board. We'd love to hear from people here some feedback about how we should prioritize development. What would you most like to see us add next? - Live broadcast (and to what platform: Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, or something else) - Meeting transcription or automatic notes/summary generation - Dedicated dial-in numbers for each meeting room (no PIN codes) - Text chat during a call - File sharing during a call - Customizing the graphics/colors of the UI - A public API so you can build integrations or your own UI for managing your team and rooms - Meeting statistics visible in the team dashboard (who is currently in which calls, who joined call X yesterday) What would you like?
Stefan Dunjic
@ninacali4 Hey, I love your product and I'm glad you guys are working on Edge and Safari support. Any chance to add the new Firefox 57 to that? Of the features above, text chat, file sharing and dial-in numbers would be of highest value for me.
nina k
@stefdvb Thanks! Glad you're finding it useful and we appreciate your time 🍺 For browsers, we surveyed our users, and Safari and Edge got more interest than Firefox, so we're planning to ship those first - but we'll def log this as a Firefox upvote. Text chat, file sharing 👍🏽 Dial-in is supported! 20+ countries. Any particular country you need?
Stefan Dunjic
@ninacali4 Yeah I understand that Firefox has the lowest market share. I'm just excited about FF Quantum coming out, I think it might be a great browser. As for dial-in numbers it seems you already cover most that I need so that's great. One additional feedback - to me the meeting room screen (where you choose how to join) gray background seems a bit weird - like at first I was wondering if something didn't load properly. This might be just me though 😆 It would've been clearer if the "Hello! Ready for call" text was in the center and in a larger font, or perhaps a different image. Just my 2 cents.
nina k
@stefdvb Love to touch base after FF Quantum rolls out, and hear what you think. Glad our dial-in works for you 🗣 📞 That's great feedback about the join page. Our whole goal is to make everything easy and clear, so really helpful to hear. We're on it and will follow up - thanks for taking the time!
David Staley
@ninacali4 - Dedicated Dial-in Number (or an option to add one) - Meeting notes - Support of all browsers
itamar weisbrod
Long time Pluot user, and now Daily. This team knows how to deliver a great product!
nina k
@itamarw Thanks!! We love working with startups like Deeplink.me - very cool knowing we're supporting product building 🍻
Stephen Meszaros
I’m really excited to have been a part of this release, and this great team! It’s truly been a huge team effort, and one in which we’ve designed and built as a distributed team ourselves. As the sole designer I’m also very glad to have a detail-oriented and focused team to work with me; and many, many times, keep our design principles in check too 😅 That said we all appreciate any feedback, comments and the like. Feel free to reply to me here with any design related questions—UI, UX, you name it. There’s much to do and we are eager to improve our pixels and user experience for the Product Hunt community and beyond. Cheers! Steve

Daily is really phenomenal. So much more reliable than other video conferencing software I have tried to use with our team in the past.

Pros:

So easy to use, high quality video and can personalize link

Cons:

none

Ti Zhao

Daily works like a charm, every time, without fail. I send a link to someone and never have to explain how to join, create an account, or download software. Plus having my own custom URL is just plain awesome.

Pros:

It's easy to use, and works every time.

Cons:

none

Peter Enestrom
I like that two people can share their screen at one time. I have faced this issue so many times!
nina k
@peter_enestrom Our design lead @stephenmeszaros says dual screen sharing is the feature his design colleagues really like, too 🖥 🖥
Jim Reich
By far the best videoconferencing system I've ever used in terms of UX, reliability and video and audio quality. Only 2 downsides: the lack of mobile support, which should be cured soon, from what I understand, and the chrome microphone bug. Yes, there's a long-standing fatal bug in Chrome's ability to access the microphone, which means you need to restart the browser. But typical of Daily is that it detects the bug and tells you what's going on and what steps to take, whereas Hangouts just leaves you on the line saying "hello? hello?" Similarly, another thing I like about Daily is that it is quite good at detecting bad connectivity, freezing video for you, and resuming video when bandwidth improves. But just a super smooth experience overall.
nina k
@jim_reich Thank you! Mobile app def on the roadmap. (Dial-in for now.) Yes, the Chrome audio bug is frustrating - we apologize, and work hard to detect it and messages users, so they know their Chrome needs to be reopened. That's great to hear about the bandwidth shaping, thank you!
Yury Lifshits
@jim_reich I am adding another vote for mobile support. I am hesitant to invite new contacts to Daily video calls since I don't know whether they'll be on the phone or web. Lack of mobile support forces me back to Hangouts.
nina k
@jim_reich thanks! keep the feedback coming - we appreciate it
nina k
@jim_reich @yurylifshits Good to know! It's on the roadmap. Dial-in maybe a backup for now? We prioritized dial-in since many people on mobile are on the go. Cheers!

I love using daily for meetings. It's so easy to use. I think about how much trouble it is to schedule meetings on other platforms that require unique meeting urls, account creation, finding someone'a username. Now I just send the link and the meeting begins!
nina k
@erinfrey Thanks!! appreciate all the feedback, KIP team is 💯
Brett Bivens
Writing this just before I jump into our team standup where we use Daily with the Pluot hardware. Super simple, great call and video clarity...overall a big step forward in the world of video-based collaboration. Can't recommend Daily (or the people behind it!) enough.
nina k
@brettbivens Thank you!
Keyul
Is it possible to share screen during meeting?
Kwindla Kramer
@keyul Yes! In fact, two people can screen share at the same time.
iqbal rafi
I use Zoom now, but I think I will migrate to Daily soon. It would be great if others can join via their mobile web browser instead of just desktop (given that only you only have 20+ countries dial in) Anyway, great job!
Stephen Meszaros
@iqbalrofficial thanks for the comment Iqbal! We certainly have mobile on our roadmap, stay tuned! Could I ask, would you be looking for Android or iOS support? If you'd like, email us at help@daily.co, we'd love to let you know when mobile support is ready for the primetime 💪
Jill Salzman

I've been using this to host chats with my members and it's clear, easy to hop on and...well, that's it. So easy. I'm just waiting for the possibility to chat or send files while talking but it's so simple right now that I love it. LOVE.

Pros:

SO RIDICULOUSLY EASY TO USE

Cons:

Can't chat while talking

Marek Bukowski
nice, this is cool!
nina k
@marekbukowski thank you!
Michael Dempsey
Have been using this for the past few weeks and have loved how easy it is to setup different rooms. Has fully replaced hangouts + skype for me. Keep up the good work!
nina k
@mhdempsey Thanks!!
Josh Nussbaum
Daily has been a game changer for me. Not having to coordinate which software the person I'm scheduled to speak with has already downloaded, easy access to a dial in number, and reusing the same URL over and over again has made video calling totally seamless.
nina k
@josh_nussbaum thank you!
