@muhammad_hamza47 @abdallahyx @helmy162 @masump Good idea -- rather than "excluding" sources (when dealing the large public Internet) -- what you can do is INCLUDE sources by building a custom knowledge source and then doing the deep research on it.
For example: I need to do deep research on rare disease called "Dent's Disease" -- so I first built a curated KB (with Pubmed papers and other articles) in CustomGPT.ai -- then using that KB, I was able to create the article.

@billcava Thanks Bill -- yeah, when it comes to business needs, anti-hallucination is a big differentiator. That is why we wanted this to be different from the ChatGPT deep researcher, which is known to hallucinate a lot (there was a Gary Marcus article about that)
Also: the public deep researchers are cool -- but for real business needs, people want deep researchers on their own data (e.g. a marketing agency needs to write articles based on their own client's content like interviews and website)

So glad about this launch, CustomGPT has come a long way to launching its own deep research tool. I gave it a try and surprisingly the next day I check my email to see a highly detailed article on my mail for the prompt I used the other night with customgot deep research tool and forgot to check the response, truely surprised at the kind of content it produced.

@zriyansh Thanks for trying out -- yes, the key focus has been on the quality of the article. Doing long-form articles is quite tough (Andrej Karpathy talks about this) -- and we've taken a different approach that ChatGPT or Perplexity on this -- building the RAG first, and then constructing the article around it .. (which is critical for business needs like anti-hallucination) .. ChatGPT approaches it more from a task-solving perspective, rather than a "generate high quality article" perspective.
Looks promising, but $99/mo for 10 articles is crazy work.

@daviddennison It's super cheap for the quality and business needs. (If a low quality article is needed, one can always generate for 1 cent in ChatGPT or using the OpenAI API) -- most agencies charge between $400 to $700 per article, so the value creation is clearly there.
@daviddennison @adorosario Hey David, soo... OpenAI is considering $20,000/month pricing for their PhD researcher... imo this signals a huge shift toward value-based pricing for deep research apps. Even w/ that entirely aside, when you consider time savings + quality improvements, easy to find an ROI at $10 per article.

@flytothemars163 Yeah -- we had to put in a lot of effort to get it speeded up .. the initial generation was taking over 1 hour.
One reason this takes longer is: We implemented a feature called "progressive narrative"
So most AI writers, they generate each block without knowing what blocks were generated before it -- so that means there is lots of repetition (sort of like an old uncle who does not remember what the story till now has been) -- to make sure that an article flows nicely, the generation needs to know the narrative till now .. so basically "Generate Block N with Blocks 1..N-1 in mind" -- due to this, blocks need to be generated in serial - rather than parallel (which takes time)
Short story: The article needs to flow nicely with a clean narrative from start to finish.
Just used this for a legal research project and the results have been much better than what I expected. Specifically for research roles this website is a good tool. The major problem that I have encountered during my research work is that the other AI Tools do not provide a detailed analysis with all the sources intact. CustomGPT gave a significantly better response compared to all of them. Loved it!

@arshita_anand Thanks -- yeah, the sources and citations are really important. And depending on the type of article requested, the type of citations is also different.
For example: academics want those [1] type citations with bibliography and ALL sources , while SEO's want a different type with few links.
The citation strategy is quite interesting ..

@ajsince1986 Thanks .. I'm truly excited about how the CustomGPT RAG-As-A-Service API was able to scale to 100s of RAG projects per min, to support this deep research agent. Doing RAG at scale with high accuracy and anti-hallucination is not easy, so having this API take care of all those problems for us really helped. This was a perfect example of why people should not build their own RAG -- and have someone else deal with the 1000+ headaches associated with that.
