Hello, I’m Craig, member of the team at Crunchy Data. We are proud of this launch because it’s for developers who need a database for their projects as they launch. By making these available, it means that developers crunching on an idea can get their product out inexpensively, and let it run. Having been at Heroku, I’ve seen 100s of companies start off similarly — so, I enjoy empowering these super early projects. In launching this, we’ve not hamstrung Postgres at all. Developers get the full power of Postgres in this service — a dedicated machine, available extensions, and a Postgres super-user. It is no-compromise Postgres. We are looking forward to the conversations this type of product generates: “can I do with Postgres?” We love to talk shop, and look forward to seeing what y’all build. ~ Craig
