Portfolios by Contra is a freelancer's dream come true, and I'll explain why with a little story:
Five years back when I lost my job, I decided to freelance β but did not have a portfolio to showcase my work. As a designer, I had a very specific vision for how I wanted my personal website to look. I wasn't satisfied with what any of the portfolio sites and templated website builders were offering, so I took to task building my own site from scratch. While I learned a lot about building websites, coding, and responsive design, it took a solid couple of months to get this thing off the ground (delayed time to value), and once I started getting clients, I had to figure out contracts, invoicing, and payments (and the earnings I had to give up to processing fees), cobbling together different tools and hacky approaches. When I had new projects to showcase, updating the site was such a hassle that I didn't even bother; it hasn't been updated since I first built it. Does this sound familiar? π
