Love this throw back brand (reminds me of 80s NASA work) — and the initiative. Well timed for Earth Day '23 as well.
Yes, we need a social platform that gamifies offsetting your carbon footprint! 🌱
Hi Product Hunt, and thank you @chrismessina for hunting us!
I'm Sanchali, founder of Commons. We help you tap into the power of your spending to build a more sustainable world.
All of us have a carbon footprint. I started Commons after manually tracking and lowering mine over 6 years. I learned that our spending choices matter: I lowered my emissions by 30%, and saved about $2,000 a year, just by living more sustainably. However, I also learned just how difficult and complex the journey can be.
Together, our household spending influences 65% of global emissions. When we shift our collective spending, we influence companies. I started Commons to make it easy for people to see our carbon influence and lower our emissions.
With Commons, you can:
→ 💡 Measure Your Footprint
Automatically calculate the emissions of everything you buy.
→ 🍃 Offset Your Emissions
Balance out emissions you can't avoid by supporting verified climate projects.
→ 🏆 Build Your Sustainable Life
Get practical strategies to reduce emissions that fit your lifestyle.
🔐 Privacy
We take privacy and security seriously. You own your information – we never sell your data. We use bank-level security to connect with your transaction history, and encrypt all data. You can delete your account anytime.
💪 Collective action
No one can tackle the climate crisis alone. Today we’re releasing a suite of new community features that make it easier to connect with and take climate action with others. The app is available on iOS and Android.

We're so excited to see what you share and would love your feedback along the way! Please follow our team on the app, and send us your thoughts and ideas on how to improve.
I've loved watching Commons get launched. They were an early member of Climate Draft and got a chance to play with the tech at one of our events. Super impressive and important for the climate transition.
This team truly practices what they preach. We're all in this together, and it's really inspiring to work in climate space that's based in optimism, empowerment, and learning. So much fantastic work has gone into the app with many more great things to come!
Love how Commons makes it easy to understand where my emissions come from. Seeing how much travel and purchases contribute to climate change has allowed me to start making changes - like cutting the # of flights or taking only direct routes. And the new brand is great!
Commons is the app I needed to 1) understand and 2) manage my carbon footprint. Loved the easy explanations and sense of community, highly recommend, and thank you Commons team!!!
It's sad that the app isn't available for download in my area, but I believe this is a worthy project. I think your execution is great, and I'm rooting for your next step! 🌏
Big fan of the product. It's been super helpful as I seek to better understand the environmental impact of my daily behaviors and ultimately reduce my personal carbon footprint. Highly recommend others check it out as well.
Commons is doing everything right! Raising awareness and allowing people to offset their carbon footprint all while keeping privacy as a core fundamental is amazing. Excited to see what comes next!
Really been enjoying Commons. It’s thoughtful about about providing insights and suggested changes that are realistic without shying away from ambitious, and it’s really made me think and make changes in my own actions with regard to climate footprint. The app itself is also improving frequently in the time I’ve used it; I’m excited to see what comes next.
