Integrate AI-powered code review and chat tools in GitHub to analyze PRs, automate reviews, highlight changes, suggest improvements, and ensure best practices. PR-Agent enables free code generation with all leading models, including Sonnet.
Dear Product Hunt community,
We just released a new PR-Agent Chrome Extension, allowing any developer to have a context-aware chat with AI directly on your pull requests✨🚀
Here is why we built it and why it’s free to use for public open-source repos!
💻 As developers, we know how essential code reviews are for catching bugs and keeping code quality high. But they can also be a bit of a pain—time-consuming and sometimes overwhelming. That’s why we created PR-Agent. By integrating AI directly into GitHub (or GitLab/BitBucket/ADO/..), our goal was to make code reviews smoother, more effective, and less painful.
🦾 Now, we also made it a Chrome extension because we wanted to make it as easy and accessible as possible. It fits right into your existing workflow with one-click setup, so you can start using it immediately without any fuss. You can converse with AI in two manners: privately, with a chat in the 'File Changed' tab, or publicly (generated outputs are visible to all) in the `Conversation` tab of the pull request.
❤️ When it came to open source, offering free access to PR-Agent was an easy decision. Open source is the backbone of our development communities, and many of us at CodiumAI have been involved in various open-source projects. This is our way of giving back to the community that’s given us so much.
🎯 With PR-Agent Chrome extension, you can explain code, generate code reviews, have private conversations about your changes, and get suggestions for improvements—all right within GitHub.
🙏 We hope it makes your work a little easier and more efficient. Please try it out and let us know what you think—we’re eager to hear your feedback and read your reviews!
Thanks for being part of this journey,
Itamar (CEO and co-founder)

@maritamar Congrats on the launch, Itamar and the CodiumAI team! Love that you're supporting open-source projects by making it free for public repos. Can't wait to give it a spin and see how it integrates with my workflow. Cheers to making code reviews less painful!
Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Hussam, a Senior Algorithm Engineer at CodiumAI. We launched PR Agent a little over a year ago — it’s a free and open-source tool that helps with reviewing pull requests. The response has been great and more than 70 contributors have added to the project.
Today, we're launching PR Agent as a browser extension.
Key features:
- AI Chat in PRs: You can ask questions about specific code changes and the context is passed to the AI model
- Automated Code Reviews: The /review command does an automated review, focusing on potential bugs, security issues, and best practice violations
- Code Improvement Suggestions: The /improve command gives suggestions for optimizing your code
- Generate PR Descriptions: The /describe command creates PR descriptions including title, summary, step-by-step walkthrough and labels
The extension is free to use on public repositories. For private repos, we have PR-Agent Pro (14-day trial, then $19/month) with additional features like documentation suggestions, component analysis, and more.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. What features would make this most useful for your workflow? Any concerns or suggestions for improvement?

The functionality of this PR chat is similar to the experience you get in Claude and the ChatGPT web interface.
We inject the PR description, commit messages, PR code (with additional dynamic context), add a minimal system prompt, and present the user's question. If you want the AI to notice specific nuances or best practices you have, state them.
@ali_goldberg , thank you so much !! Would love to hear any feedback that you have, don't hesitate even if you think it is something small or minor, really!
We developed this extension out of real need - chat with AI is becoming the standard for almost any product or use-case. And pull requests are definitely a place where chat is needed. But you can't "copy" a pull request content to Claude, for example. So providing an easy, context-aware, chat screen in your PR code tab is something we believe will be useful and applicable to developers
@mr_t23 , makes sense to me! ;)
Another possible reason for creating a Chrome Extension for PR-Agent is to enable easier usage and output standardization across GitHub/GitLab/BitBucket...
Congrats on the launch. Integrating AI directly into pull requests is a brilliant move, especially with the ability to have both private and public conversations about code changes. Kudos for making such a valuable contribution to the development community!
Congrats @maritamar@hussam_lawen and the CodiumAI team! Integrating AI directly into GitHub for automated code reviews is brilliant. The ability to handle PRs more efficiently is a huge plus. Curious about how well the AI handles different programming languages—does it support languages beyond the popular ones like Python and JavaScript?
Sounds like a super helpful extension! Just tried it out, and it fits right into my workflow. Makes code reviews a lot smoother and less of a hassle. Great job,Itamar and team.
Congratulations to the CodiumAI team on the launch of PR-Agent: AI-powered chat & code review!
I've been following CodiumAI for a while now and have been using their tool in VS Code for software development. It's consistently impressed me with its progress, new features, and innovative products. I am amazed to see that this new tool will further enhance how PRs are managed on GitHub, integrating AI-driven analysis, automated reviews, and insightful suggestions directly into the workflow. The addition of code generation with leading models like Sonnet is an exciting and valuable enhancement.
Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this product to life! @hussam_lawen@mr_t23
A special shoutout to @maritamar your leadership continues to drive innovation at CodiumAI. Well done! 🎉
@sentry_co Greate question, we inject the PR description, commit messages, PR code (with additional dynamic context), and the user's question/command (not only what's in the page view).
For private repos, you need to install a companion Github app to give PR-Agent Github App a "read" permission to the repo. The extension will not send your code to any external servers, only the PR url and the command.
@hussam_lawen Aha. So it does parse the entire GitHub repo code as well then. Great thanks! Another question. Can I use my own OpenAI key to test it out?
Congrats on launching PR-Agent! 🚀
Integrating AI-powered code reviews directly into GitHub is a brilliant way to streamline the process and ensure best practices. Can't wait to see how it transforms code reviews and boosts productivity!
