Our goal is to make online education work for everyone. With a simple interface and tens of thousands of reviews written by Class Central users, we have helped 35 million learners decide which course to take.
Hi, Product Hunt! The last few weeks have been crazy for Class Central. I noticed a huge burst of traffic on March 15 as social distancing measures were implemented in the US and around the world.
Since then, almost 10 million people visited Class Central looking to find a course — a big jump from our typical 500k-600k monthly uniques. We received coverage on National Media outlets like NPR, CBS, and Good Morning America.
Class Central was a side project that I started more than eight years ago to keep track of free courses from Stanford. Later on, these courses became popularly known as MOOCs or Massive Open Online Courses.
The Class Central catalog has grown to 15,000 courses and close to 1000 universities. Our users have written more than 80,000 reviews and the total number of registered users has crossed 2 million.
You don't need to register, but here are a few things you can do:
1/ Bookmark courses. Courses have been bookmarked 9.4 million times.
2/ Follow subjects, universities, and providers. We send you new course notifications based on your follows. ~25 million follows in total.
3/ Create lists or learning paths from any resource on the internet. This is a recently launched feature, but 225k lists have already been created. So far, users are mostly using lists for personal use, but long term the community can help us curate learning resources around the web.
Some of these numbers might sound big, but we have been grinding for a long time now! We are bootstrapped and profitable (even before the recent traffic spike).
I hope you are able to find some fun and useful courses. Happy to provide recommendations.
