It's hard to be a great manager and leader without the proper tools and structure. Glad to see what workpatterns is building.
Robin Good
Great collaboration-communication tool in support of one-to-one meetings allows for easy organization of topics to be discussed as well as for managing feedback, comments, ideas, rewards and more. It can be used for any type of consulting, coaching or remote assistance/counselling work. Very easy to onboard and simple to use. Definitely better than Google Docs which I have used so far for this purpose. Incredibly enough it seems Workpatterns allows me to do most of what I need with the 100% free account. This is why I'd highly recommend this tool, and I will be promoting generously it to my readers just to feel okay in having paid my moral obligation to the beautiful team who has made this tool a reality. Thanks!
Adam Berke
@robingood Thanks Robin! Let us know if you have any feedback as you get up and running with your team.
Chris Herbert
Love using the system within our company and highly recommend. Great especially for early stage startups
Marlo Oster

Can't wait to check out Work Patterns! Seems like an essential tool for teams in today's work from home reality
Adam Berke
@pattyjburns Thanks Patrick! Get your domain sorted out and let's go!

Thanks for hunting our product and for all you do in the PH community @pollock Hi there Product Hunt! Over my career, I've struggled personally with growing from an individual contributor, to a manager, and eventually an executive (most recently President and CMO at AdRoll/NextRoll.) Some things I didn't know and had to learn along the way, and some things just didn't come naturally, so I let them fall between the cracks. I had top-down performance management tools instrumented by our HR team, but they weren’t designed to help manage the day-to-day. So 2 years ago @dmitriskj , @noah_duncan2 & I joined forces to build WorkPatterns — a toolkit for guided 1:1s, team meetings, feedback, recognition, and all the things a manager needs to thrive in a dynamic work environment. As 2020 kicked off and teams found themselves in an indefinite ‘WFH’ environment, it was clear that our vision for the future of work accelerated by several years. Since then, we’ve worked closely with early adopters who were intentionally seeking a tool like ours, and we’re so grateful for their feedback. Now, we’d love your feedback PH community! Here are some things we’ve added recently: - New onboarding flow for easy setup - Asynchronous video messaging to build connection and to avoid the misinterpretations that come with chat and email - Integrations with Slack & MS Teams - Calendar integration to improve the timeliness of meeting preparation - Integrations with almost any video conferencing software to start meetings directly from your workspace Some things coming soon: - Goals! - Asana & Jira integrations We’re offering a 30 day free trial of our premium product tier with no credit card required, and you can keep using the free version of the product indefinitely. So feel free to give it a risk-free run by creating an account, let us know what you think, and fire away with any questions!
Mariam Bouricius
I’ve enjoyed how simple to use this is, especially for building 1:1 habits with the team, which include all the pre-work & follow up processes.
Marlo Oster
@mariam_bouricius Thanks! That's great to hear!
Adam Berke
@mariam_bouricius Thanks so much Mariam! We'll keep on it :)
Dmitri Skjorshammer
@mariam_bouricius Thanks for the kind words! We're always improving the product!
Elaine Tsai
Simple yet powerful Love it. Curious if you guys are thinking about displaying analytics from the inputs?
Dmitri Skjorshammer
@elainetsai Thanks for the kind words! Analytics is definitely an avenue worth exploring. Use cases is a bit amorphous but, as an example, auto-summarizing work done this week enables individual contributors to show progress while spending more time on high-leverage tasks. Are you thinking of something specific?

Timing couldn't be more perfect with the transition to remote work. Additionally, there are so many moving up in the workforce, and in charge of managing people for the first time - great toolkit to being an effective manager and leader.
Adam Berke
@viviancheng11 Thanks Vivian. First time managers are definitely a key persona for us.
David Huie
This product is awesome! It's much better than the monitor post-it system that I'm used to! I'm curious as to how customizable the 1-1 flow is in the app is. 1-1s with direct reports might be more deliverable focused, whereas 1-1s in middle management may focus on career development, strategy, and other less "checkmarkable" things.
Adam Berke
@david_huie1 Ha, the old monitor lion's mane of post its :) You're absolutely right, and we've designed the product with that in mind. We have features like "recurring discussion topics" to help you check in on longer term development/strategy topics, but also have action items with clear ownership and due dates for more tactical things. We also have purpose built flows for feedback and recognition that are specifically designed for career development. Hope that helps!
mrosoff
This is a uniquely special product for a period of time where remote work has been brought to the forefront of our lives. Do yourself a favor and sign up so you can stay connected with all of your fellow co workers and improve the quality of your 1:1's.
Marlo Oster
@mrosoff Thanks for your support! We started on the path of building WorkPatterns long before working remotely became an indefinite reality for us all. That said, it's definitely become a need to have for so many distributed teams.
Dmitri Skjorshammer
@mrosoff thanks for the kind words. This is definitely a challenging period & we're humbled to be helping them operate effectively.
Dan O'Connell
Has been a game changer for us since going fully remote. Previously we were relying on GDocs for 1:1s which looks, feels, and acts like an archaic system now that we're using WorkPatterns. WP is just a great product; it works, it's fast, it's well designed, and the team acts on feedback. It's been great. Our teams / individuals / managers love it.
Adam Berke
@dan_o_connell3 Thanks Dano! It's been awesome working with you and your feedback and insights have been invaluable. You have an awesome team over there at Dialpad!
Jonathan Choi
I used this at my previous employer to replace our 1:1 in Google Docs. I like the simplicity of the product & it helped me stay in sync with my boss.
Adam Berke
@jonathan_choi3 That's a familiar story Jonathan. 80-90% of the time we replace a Google Doc and people don't look back :)
Steph Chen
This has been a great product to hold members of my team accountable to their goals. I used WorkPatterns to help with a team member who had issues with communication and meeting their goals during our 1:1s. I used to scribble down notes during our 1:1s and at the end of it, I barely understood what I wrote or what concrete goals we had set. Not only did WorkPatterns help me organize my thoughts and prepare for 1:1s more efficiently, it also held my team members accountable with action items and goals that they needed to complete. It's been a game-changer to say the least!
Marlo Oster
@steph_chen1 that's great to hear - your scenario is one of the core problems we are hoping to solve for our users. Thanks for the support!
Dmitri Skjorshammer
@steph_chen1 thanks for your support! Our vision is to improve workplace relationships and it's a delight to see this manifesting in practice. Lots of new features coming your way!
Blake Williams
Before Workpatterns, we were emailing our meeting agendas as word documents. Now, there's no need for that! It's all included in the app and so much more :) what a great product! Can't imagine work life without it
Adam Berke
@blakemycake Great to hear that it’s helped! Please let us know if you have any feedback.
Marlo Oster
@blakemycake Thanks for your support Blake!
Debi Prasad Mishra
This is gonna be game changer, it would be if it can work with outlook so that we can keep tabs of mails too. Even we can send the action items over mail.
Adam Berke
@debi_prasad_mishra Thanks for the suggestion! We do integrate with Outlook Calendar, but the email idea is a good one. We'll put that on the roadmap.
Debi Prasad Mishra
I think your heading on your website should be "WorkPatterns is the modern manager’s toolkit for 1:1s, feedback, & recognition" because that's a selling point of your awesome tool.
Nathan Easom
I heard of WorkPatterns just as our company went fully remote in March 2020. It's simply and beautifully built. Serves a clear need and addresses an unfilled vacuum in my workflows. I feel it makes me a better manager of people.
Adam Berke
@easom_nathan It’s been awesome working with you Nathan. Had a great call with Maya this morning and we look forward to rolling out more broadly. Thanks for being our champion!
SJ Petteruti
WorkPatterns has helped make our company more efficient by increasing transparencies between managers and team members. Very glad to have begun using this early on once we went remote.
Adam Berke
@sj_petteruti Glad to hear that SJ!
Marlo Oster
@sj_petteruti thanks SJ!
Peter Krivkovich
Big fan of the product Especially in the current environment having tools that help our employees stay connected and stay productive is critical!
Adam Berke
@peter_krivkovich1 Thanks PK! Glad to hear it.
Riley C
The landscape of managing teams changes rapidly. WorkPatterns is extremely responsive to addressing those needs and building a sleek solution to new use cases.
Adam Berke
@riley_c Thanks Riley. We definitely take user feedback to heart and try to address needs quickly while also building for the long term.
Dmitri Skjorshammer
@riley_c thanks for being an early believer. The product wouldn't be where it is today without your feedback :)
Leigh Ware
I’ve loved how simple this product is to use, and that it finally replaces my multiple scattered-and-messy google docs for communicating with my team!
Adam Berke
@leigh_ware1 Thanks Leigh! That's exactly our goal. It's been a pleasure working with you :)
