Do you operate as an opaque marketplace where you list the demand to suitable suppliers or more like fiverr physical goods procurement?

@prad_vv Great question. We surface to suitable suppliers in order to not overload them with requests and to ensure that the final product is of the highest quality to satisfy the buyer.

1. MOQs vary on the product and depend on the degree of customisation and specificity of the product. However, ultimately, it's the suppliers that specify their own MOQs, not us. The higher the MOQ, the more suppliers will put in a bid for a quote.
2. In the interest of creating the best possible user experience, we have focused primarily on apparel and accessories, but we have sourced items more complex and detailed products such as welding helmets.
3. We currently charge a small percentage surcharge on the order and samples.
And those are great ideas too! Happy to say we're actively working on the first two, and the third one is done.

@simona_o_neill3 Thank you Simona! We're automating everything to minimize the work the user has to do. Of course, there are sometimes moments where we have to loop the user in to accept introduced negotiation terms, etc but that's the idea. I'm curious â what scenario do you have in mind where you'd like the negotiation to be manual?
Not gonna lie, when I looked at the tagline, I thought this is some kind of 3D printing farm. But this is even better.
The problem with lots of marketplace is they are too free. Anyone can join and that causes a problem. People want quality over quantity. There are tons of industries like this - I can see a platform like this in the wedding supplier industry can work really well too!
How good is the agent at filtering out suppliers? Looks like there are real footage of real suppliers, what's the process for getting this to work?

@tonyhanded Great question. We use various vetting methodogies before bringing them onto the platform, and we further filter further downstream on the basis of responsiveness, quality of sample/order photography, previous experiences, and more. You don't want to be too rigid, however, because of the tradeoff between quality and cost. Some users are willing to take a slight quality hit if it means significant cost savings.
On the point about marketplaces are "too free" â that's true, and it creates issues on the user side too. Too many "unserious" users can create problems for suppliers as well.
Iâve been watching the Cavela team execute for several months now as a Partner at XYZ, and itâs unbelievable what theyâve built for this mission. As a marketing leader, this should be a vital tool in everyoneâs toolbox as you make the physical products of your brand special and unique đ§°

@lucasbenjaminfoster1 You've nailed it. On average it takes 1000 messages back and forth from first contact to final order. That's painful enough, but when you also factor in the time difference, language, and technological hurdles, it can cause significant time delays and costly errors in the final order.
Excellent branding and beautiful website. Having already procured some custom hats from Cavela, Iâm excited for what we can do next. I never would have been able to order direct from a trusted manufacturer on my own and Anthony and team made this easy. Lastly, as investors in Cavela, itâs been fun to watch how fast this team moves!

This is really really cool, it would be a game changer for e-commerce businesses. I am just wondering what the quality of the outreach email/messages are because thats ultimately the most important value proposition of the product. But nevertheless, its seems super powerful for anyone in the physical product space
@daniel_xpo Thanks Daniel! You're right about the quality of the email/messages, but the user-submitted product specs are equally, if not more, important to ensure a successful process. Our AI helps direct that side as well.
does this only work for product creation or product sourcing in general. let's say I have a product that is already available in thw market and I need it sourced. can the app do that?

How does Cavela ensure quality control when working with such a vast network of suppliers?

@kyrylosilin Great question! We pre-vet the suppliers through various methodologies before bringing them onboard. From there, we monitor metrics such as responsiveness and quality of sample photos, etc. and always deploy in-person QA for orders to make sure the final product is of the highest quality. We're always improving our process.
