Proven business models that have driven success for global leaders across industries. Rethink how your business can create, deliver, and capture value.
Business models are quite a passion. I've been exploring them for over a decade. I love that you spent three years on it, definitely adds cred. Hope to check this out some time soon. ๐
@nikkielizdemere Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your passion!
Itโs always exciting to connect with others who appreciate the depth and impact of business models. We put a lot of effort into ensuring that this deck was well-researched and meticulously developed over those three years - in collaboration with teams applying what they discovered along the way.
I'm thrilled to hear your interest and can't wait for you to try it out. Here's to hoping it adds some valuable perspectives to your ongoing exploration of business models! ๐
Very interesting product @toxboe ! I am curious to know why you chose a card deck as a product instead of a digital app. Does it make the team interaction more collaborative? Personally, I would think so? Would love to know your insights!
@almarie_stander Indeed! Choosing a card deck format over a digital app was intentional to enhance team interaction.
The tactile nature of the card deck promotes active engagement and collaboration, making it easier for teams to physically share ideas, rearrange concepts, and visually map out business strategies together in real-time.
This format encourages open dialogue and helps build a shared understanding (and language) among all participants, which is often more challenging to achieve with digital tools.
Plus, the deck can be used anywhere, anytime, without needing tech setup, making it versatile for all sorts of workshop environments.
Hello Product Hunt community!
We're excited to introduce the Business Model Patterns card deck, a project that has been meticulously crafted over the last 3 years. Our goal was to distill complex business strategies into accessible, practical tools. This card deck, through rigorous creation, testing, and refinement, has significantly enhanced our own team's ability to innovate and adapt - but also a vast array of our clients.
The 75 core business model cards and associated workshop exercises have been tried and tested with various clients, making them straightforward to integrate into daily work life. During its testing phase, the deck has already enabled several established businesses to revamp their models and assisted a handful of startups in achieving product-market fit.
We're eager to hear your feedback on our tool and how they work for you in real-world scenarios. Your insights on their effectiveness, ease of use, and any suggestions for improvement are greatly valued.

Thank you for your support and for helping us refine this tool, aiming to enhance strategic capabilities across various business environments.
@chritopher_bond Thank you!
Yes, the deck indeed encompasses 75 distinct business model patterns, each crafted to provide insightful, actionable strategies for various types of businesses.
We aimed to cover a comprehensive range of models to ensure utility and applicability across different industries and scenarios.
@stockmarr Thanks, @stockmarr!
I managed to pull off the design under some serious counselling from a fellow Lenus eHealth colleague, Amir Gavriel-Hazan (๐).
The fantastic illustrations are by artist Annesofie Sandal - a Dane resident in New York.
Congrats @toxboe! really looking forward to have a closer look at this product. If it provides the same value as the other decks (which I believe it will :-)) then it's a must have.
Upvoted!seems like a neat toolkit for shaking up the boardroom brainstorming sessions.
With all these giants to look up to, is there room for customization to fit the little league players? How adaptable are these patterns for small businesses that might not have resources like the global honchos?
@aman_wen Absolutely!
This toolkit is designed to be highly adaptable, making it just as valuable for small businesses as for larger corporations.
The patterns included cover a broad spectrum of business models that can be tailored to fit different scales and resource levels.
Small businesses can selectively apply these patterns to discover innovative approaches that work within their unique constraints. This flexibility makes it a practical tool for any business looking to innovate and improve.
Funny thing is that I've seen that big corps often look to the cards applied mostly by startups as they try to guardrail themselves from being disrupted.
Everyone can learn from the other - big or small. ๐
@fabdurso Thanks so much for the upvote and the encouragement!
It's hard to say at this point, but seeing how teams work with it, their discussions (on a whole new level) and the results they end up with, I'm very optimistic about the impact of this deck.
My other decks are very much focused on underestanding users and customers, how they think and how to design something that works for them.
But there are two sides of the coin to any successful product:
1. The user side (it solves a customer need)
2. The business side (it works for the business)
Until the launch of this deck, I've been very (almost too much) concerned with the first.
That's why I created the Business Model Patterns - to close the gap between user needs and business needs.
It works so well in harmony with the other decks - but can surely also act as a stand-alone deck.
I'm crossing my fingers for it! ๐ค๐ป
@derkolstad Thanks so much! Iโm glad you like it.
Facilitating a game-like setting as a learning and collaboration tool is indeed an effective way collaborate (and align around complex concepts).
First off, congrats on launching the Business Model Patterns card deck @toxboe! It sounds like a game changer for anyone looking to streamline complex business strategies. The fact that you've spent three years perfecting this and have already seen it boost innovation for your team and clients is seriously exciting and impressive.
Incorporating these cards into workshop exercises seems like a brilliant idea. Do you have any favorite exercises or success stories you could share?
Thanks for the discount code and for making it even more accessible to the Product Hunt community!
Keep up the fantastic work, and thanks for giving us the tools to better navigate our business challenges.
@andrew_hawel Thank you so much for the kind words and support! Itโs been a rewarding journey seeing how the card deck has sparked innovation across various teams and contexts.
One of my favorite exercises involves teams using the cards to map out and then challenge each business model element, fostering deep dives into alternatives that could enhance their strategies. The card deck lists and explains a couple of exercises around this:
1) (Basic) Business Model Mapping (as we all know it, using the Business Model Canvas)
2) "Reimagine Building Blocks", which examines each element in detail.
The backside of each card highlights examples of companies implementing the business model, but also marks which "boxes" of the Business Model Canvas that it influences. This insight can be used to quickly search for Business Model Patterns, which for instance deal with the Key Partner setup.
Another exercise that always yields an interesting find is the "Competition Radar", which maps out each competitor on a radar chart. This ends up providing a very insightful map highlighting strengths and weaknesses among yourself and competitors. A variation of this is doing a competitor radar on a fictive upcoming competitor, who uses new tech (for instance AI) or has some other advantage... This lets you compare and contrast how you best position yourself in opposition (or in partnership?) with potential upcomign threats.
I could go on...
But those 3 exercises are included in the card deck.
Keep pushing the boundaries, and thanks again for your enthusiasm and support!
Like many on PH, I work in an industry that is purely digital. Yet I find these kinds of products simply fantastic.
Here in Italy, a company has developed on the same concept (digital + physical) several packs of cards that help with business planning and storytelling [sefirot.it, for instance]. Your deck seems the perfect combination to further enrich the experience.
The feel of the paper, working in a three-dimensional space and being able to interact directly and physically with other team members during gamification sessions are elements that drastically enrich the experience of the sessions.
Congratulations!
@filippo_calabrese ! Iโm thrilled to hear that our card deck resonates with your experiences in Italy.
Absolutely, the tactile element of physical cards and the dynamic of collaborating in a shared physical space can deeply enhance learning and collaboration.
It's great to know that our deck could complement and enrich the tools you're already using. Hereโs to more engaging and productive sessions with your team!

Congratulations on the launch! You've caught me off guard. It's the first non-software product I've come across here on PH, and though I'm not a veteran of the platform, it's an absolutely brilliant findโoriginal and creative. I'm genuinely curious to try it out, though personally, the price is a bit steep. Still, the upvote is necessary. A truly intriguing idea!
I'm also launching a platform here on PH this Saturday, and it would be immensely valuable to hear your thoughts! As a brand, you could also benefit from it once launched. It will allow you to achieve a significant level of engagement on your social media posts through gamified campaigns and social farming, making it easier to trend. Trending equals money.
Best of luck with everything, and you have my guaranteed upvote.
