@ematt That permission is needed for the extension to be able to generate and fill the burner address on websites. If you'll look at other extensions, you'll notice that many of them request the same kind of permission, this is due to how Chrome handles permissions.

Thank you! 🙂So, the process is that you generate a burner email address with our extension, then you give websites that burner address that you just generated, and when they start sending emails to it, all of the emails will get forwarded to your personal email address. The benefit of this is that you won't give websites your personal email address anymore and you don't risk them selling it to spammers. And when you don't want to receive emails from a specific sender anymore or you've noticed that they started sending spam, you just disable or delete that burner address from the extension or from the web app. There are two ways at the moment of generating burner emails: The first one is to use the extension and click the button that will appear in email fields as you browser websites, and that will create a ready to use burner email right there and it will fill the field with it. The second one is to generate what we call "custom burners", so if you'd like to name your burner email however you want, you have that possibility by going into our web app, logging in and creating one in the Custom Burners section in there. Thank you for the kind words! 😺 While there are other services providing similar functionality, I believe that Burner Emails stands out for the ease of use interface, transparency and security protocols. I'm trying to keep things simple and honest and to deliver true value to the user. What I believe Burner Emails does better is: - It has a better UI and UX - Burner Emails lets you create custom burners that can be used in a more personal/general way. One way of using that would be creating a general burner for all your shopping in case you don't want them to have your personal address. - It lets you create, disable, enable and delete burners directly from the extension so you don't need to even leave the current tab - The generated burner has a random set of characters in it to make sure that the address is always unique. For example, if you want to create multiple subscriptions for a website, Burner Emails will create an address that looks like "username.website.55fb78" while Any Alias's looks like "username.website" and that does not allow you to create multiple valid accounts/subscriptions for a website. - Any Alias doesn't let you create aliases from the web app so in case their extension doesn't work on a specific website/input there is no way for you to signup using their service. - While Any Alias's extension only works for Chrome, Burner Emails currently supports Firefox too and I plan on adding Opera soon also. I have so many features that I plan on adding to the service. Some of those will be: - the possibility to change the burner's receiver address (the email address to which the emails are forwarded to), - the possibility to respond to an email using the burner address through gmail or any other email client, - the possibility to read your burner address's emails directly on the web app and not even have to forward them to your inbox anymore I hope this made things more clear. I am excited about this upcoming implementation: "the possibility to read your burner address's emails directly on the web app and not even have to forward them to your inbox anymore" That would be perfect because I my mailbox will not be flooded with possible spam. How will you update us when you have released a new feature we can use (no website yet)? I will be looking out for the last feature because that is what I am looking for :). Thanks!

@angeliquesocial That makes me happy to hear! I'm trying to have it done as soon as possible but I'm not sure when that will be. At the moment, I do have it almost working but before I release it, I need to make sure that it's as bug-free as possible, haha. I don't really want to spam users with emails, letting them know about the updates as I often find those kind of emails too intrusive, maybe if I'll do that I'll also add a huge Unsubscribe link or something 😀 What I'm thinking of is: actually adding something like a banner on the top of the extension popup panel, letting users know that a new feature is available! I will also be tweeting about the updates on the @burner_emails Twitter account.

@edouardwinia Thanks Edouard! 🙏 I think some filter the addresses by only "good" email addresses while others sell them as-is. I do know for sure that sometimes addresses get sold by niche-specific lists. So if you register on a shopping website for apparel, you'll end up in a lot of apparel-related lists, thus getting bombarded by a ton of apparel-related discounts from different stores online for example. Does that make sense? 🙂

@andersonfsantos Thanks, Anderson! You’re right! Those are all really good points, but I’ve already thought about those scenarios! 😀 1. That’s correct, unfortunately this risk comes with any other service that could get shut down. What I can say is that I’m really excited about building this into a great tool and I’m not planning on shutting it down any time soon. 2. Because all emails are forwarded to your personal account, they are not stored. I also use the TLS protocol to encrypt all the emails in transit, as well as SPF and DKIM for email security.

@ivandrag Hi Dragos! 👋 At the moment the burner addresses forward all emails to your personal email address that you used when you registered. You can filter them from the Burner Mail extension panel by enabling/disabling or deleting burner addresses. Once you disable or delete an address, you will then stop receiving emails to that address! Kind of like an unsubscribe button. I plan on launching a feature where you could read a burner address's emails right in the web app but that's still under development, I plan on releasing it ASAP though 😀

That's exactly what I've built this extension for 😀Whenever you don't want spammers to continue sending you spam, you delete or disable the burner and the emails will stop!
