Using Buffer's newly designed and improved salary calculator, anyone can see what they'd make with Buffer's latest salary formula no matter where they live in the world.

The salary calculator takes into account a person's role, experience level, and the cost of living in the city they're in.

@hamstu Works great, easy mistake to make. This is somewhat irrelevant to the post itself but just to let you know as someone that has never heard of Buffer before. There seems to be no where on the website that states where the company is based, I checked the about homepage, faq, and about us with no luck. Overall great job!

@hamstu @sam_ayres they are all over the world and they closed their "office" https://open.buffer.com/no-office/ they just mean what they say "We're a fully distributed team, meaning that we'll be fixing bugs and replying to your questions from around the world!" :)

@garettmd Great spot, Garett! We're a bit slower at hiring this year. We recently hired an Engineering Manager and we're interviewing for an Android Develop now. There should be more openings in 2018. :)

Big fan of buffer and their transparent strategy .. govt. organisations should follow the same specially for all their projects and people/companies involved with it

Does it seem weird to anyone else that (at least for software engineers) they're aiming at the 50th percentile for salary? That seems like a great way to get mediocre engineers.

An explanation of whether the value shown is the CTC(Cost to the Company) or the Cash in Hand would be helpful

Pros:

Tells me the salary based on two very simple inputs

Cons:

An explanation of why the role multiplier and cost of living is is used is missing.

This one is a fantastic tool but I personally feel there are few issues. Such as how do you differentiate which city is low, high or medium? It would be great if you can put all "IT" cities of each country and that would provide more tractions. Also, what is the salary structure for a Support Engineer? I see that is not mentioned anywhere?
