Hi PH! I’m Adam, Co-Founder of Budgeat. We’re building a digital kitchen assistant to help you find recipes and food hacks, plan meals, organize your shopping list, and track what's in your pantry. After months of hard work we just introduced food hacks, which allow you to find creative ways to use up food you already have 🧑‍🍳 Whether you're interested in using up vegetable scraps that would otherwise go to waste, need to use up extra herbs after buying a whole bunch and using just three leaves for that new recipe, or simply have a few ingredients in the fridge that you're not sure what to do with, our wide variety of food hacks has you covered! Why? A lot of good food goes to waste. It hurts the planet, our pocket books, and throwing out food just isn’t any fun. → One-third of all food produced globally is wasted 🤯 Households account for about half of that 🏠 → Food that’s wasted causes about 8-10% of greenhouse gas emissions and accounts for nearly a quarter of all freshwater use 🌎 → About $1,800 worth of food is wasted per household each year in the U.S. 💰 → Finding creative ways to use up all the food you buy is fun (and tasty) 🥳 Knowing you’re doing something good for the planet is fulfilling 💪 How? Let’s leverage technology to help us - cooking at home and managing our food is still wayyyy too manual. When you think about it, home cooking is really a big optimization problem 🎯 We’re trying to strike the right balance across a series of variables: grocery budgets, dietary restrictions, taste preferences, nutritional goals, time constraints, efficient use of the food we buy, etc. The Budgeat app helps you by taking into consideration all of these variables, matching it with a wealth of product and recipe data, and providing the right information at the right time. Who knew that you could freeze milk for later use, make delicious chips from vegetable peels, or that there are dozens of great uses for stale bread? Key Features: 🍴 Personalized recipe and hacks suggestions based on your budget, dietary restrictions, goals, and preferences that get smarter over time as you use the app more. Plus, you can add any food you already have on hand to ensure nothing goes to waste. 💪 Guidance on how to make the most of your food, including more and more tips, tricks, and hacks for saving food if you’re not in the mood to eat it right away (e.g. make herb cubes, blanche and freeze the broccoli, how to make a berry compote, etc.) 🤖 Automated meal planning tailored to your needs, which you can further customize to your heart’s content. ⚡️ Instant shopping list creation based on your recipe and hack selections, with the ability to add any additional items as well. 🙌 A digital pantry to keep track of what you have and provide reminders of when things are about to expire. Items in the pantry are also considered in future meal plans, so less food ends up in the trash. The Path Ahead: Budgeat is still in its early days, but we’re excited for the road ahead. The app now supports both planning ahead and finding good uses for food you already have, but there’s so much more to be done. A few thousand awesome people have tried Budgeat and provided feedback to get us to this point, but we’re hungry for way more. Give Budgeat a try and help us build something that enables millions of people to make the most of their food. Plus, have a little fun and find fulfillment along the way 🚀
