Bito’s AI Assistant from your IDE or Chrome makes it easy to write code, understand syntax, write test cases, explain code, comment code, check security, and even explain high level concepts. It really works!

Love the idea that AI generation is like a golf caddy — making seasoned pros even more effective at their art. At this stage in my career, I'd settle for being a 1x developer, and so maybe Bito’s AI Assistant could help me become a 2x dev? 😂
Amar Goel
@chrismessina ha ha, can you imagine how much faster innovation in the world would go if every dev could "just" 2x? :) CTO of a tech company told me today "this is game changing."
Sungho Yahng
This seems so promising that it's strange that there's little reaction like this. But did you know that your Jetbrain plugin page doesn't work?
Amar Goel
@sungho hi, hmmm, sorry about the issue. Can you share more about what issue you are having? You can also get the plug-in from the marketplace in your IDE. Please email me at amar.goel@bito.co . thanks!
Amar Goel
@sungho we also think the product is pretty promising, btw! :)
Sungho Yahng
It's a pity that I can't send messages with the keyboard. It would be nice if a message would be sent when Ctrl+Enter was pressed, if not Enter. It would be better than now if I could at least select the send button using Tab.
Anand Das
@sungho thanks for the feedback, we will add the support for it in the next update.
Mukesh Agarwal
@sungho, thanks so much for the feedback. We will address is soon. Would love to hear more as you try it out.
Anand Das
Hi @sungho, we have updated the plugins, VSCode plugin with the changes to support Enter to send, and it is now available on VSCode marketplace so you can update to the new build. JetBrains and Chrome extensions are going though the review process and will be available soon. Will send an update once they are available.
Anand Das
@sungho the updated plugins are now available on both VSCode and JetBrains. Chrome extension has also been updated with required support.

Hi Product Hunters 👋 Myself, @ananddas, and @mukesh_agarwal are excited to bring you Bito AI, a product that we think can transform your development experience. We want to help you be a 10x developer, or at least save a couple of hours a day! As a developer there are so many things to do, from actually writing code, to testing it, to remembering syntax, understanding new code, making your code secure and performant, etc – the list goes on and on. Many of them are boring, and don’t let you focus on high impact work. 😤 We thought wouldn’t it be great if we could use AI to help you do this, and thus Bito’s AI was born. 🤞 Bito’s AI Assistant is like a Swiss Army knife that can do so many things – and make you that elusive 10x developer! It works right in your favorite IDE (we support Visual Studio Code and all Jetbrains IDEs like IntelliJ, PyCharm, GoLand, etc) and is also available as a Chrome Extension. Bito AI is a FREE app! 👍 What does Bito’s AI Assistant help with? Basically, ask any technical question: 🔥Generate Code: Examples: “code in java to convert a number from one base to another”, “code to implement a simple rest API in go” ☝️ Command Syntax: “how to set git config variables”, “create an encrypted s3 bucket using the AWS cli” 🥇 Test Cases: “Generate test cases for this code ” 🔑 Explain code: “explain this code ” ✍️ Comment Method: “Explain this code and explain the parameters ” ⚡ Improve Performance: “how can I improve performance of this code ” 🔒 Check Security: “Is this code secure?” 📽️ Explain concepts: "explain B+ trees, give an example with code", “explain banker’s algorithm” Trained on billions of lines of code and millions of docs, it’s pretty incredible what AI can help you do without having to search the web or waste time on tedious stuff. We'd love to have you try it out, let us know what you think! It’s totally free. We know we have a long way to go, but your feedback will make it incredible! One more thing: We handle security very seriously, and never store or view your code in any way. Thanks, Amar

sounds cool but i never heard the english phrase swiss army knife, that sounds so dumb in english and i didnt knew it was a thing outside of germany (here it sounds better: "Schweizer Taschenmesser") but besides that, nice product :)
Sandeep Bansal
@jonassc :-) I am now checking out the pronunciation of Schweizer Taschenmesser

I have been thoroughly impressed by this extension. Not only is it incredibly realistic in its responses, but it also presents information in a simple and easy-to-understand manner. It has quickly become my go-to choice for answers and assistance. In fact, I would even say that it is an excellent competitor to chatGPT, offering a level of quality and reliability that is hard to beat. Highly recommend! PS: Is there any SDK for this? I wanted to use it in a side project.
Amar Goel
@tiago_rangel_de_sousa Tiago, thanks so much for the great feedback. Please join our slack community: https://join.slack.com/t/bito-co... , we'd love to hear more about what you are looking for in terms of the SDK.
Brittany Joiner {Britt the Builder}
This looks like Github copilot, but maybe better!??! Definitely gonna give this a try.
Amar Goel
@britt_joiner github copilot just helps with writing code. We let you ask any question, see if your code is secure, automatically write tests, explain code... the list goes on and on. try it out and let us know.
Mukesh Agarwal
@britt_joiner , thanks , feel free to join our Slack community at https://join.slack.com/t/bito-co....

Thanks, @chrismessina, for hunting Bito AI. Myself, @amargoel , and @ananddas are super grateful. 🙏🙏 I started my career as a Developer at Microsoft Outlook in 2001, where almost the entire code base was written in C/C++. As a developer, we wrote code to handle low-level memory, storage, and networking functions, AND real product functionality. 😫 Software development has evolved drastically over the last 20 years - new programming languages like Java and C## automate low-level tasks (e.g., memory management), and new frameworks such as React and Angular give ready-to-use building blocks 🧱. Open Source Software allowed small teams to build complex stuff by assembling core components such as web servers, databases, and messaging platforms. 🚀 The languages, frameworks, and OSS made developers more productive. However, productivity itself became a moving target as the development and delivery of software products became more agile and grew in complexity with the web, mobile, and cloud. 🕸️📱☁️ A side effect of this monumental progress in languages, frameworks, and OSS is that a massive amount of public knowledge got created around coding, testing, and deploying software - billions of lines of code and millions of documents, questions, and answers - by passionate developers around the world 📚. However, accessing that knowledge to create new knowledge has become increasingly challenging. We believe that the next massive shift in software development will come through harnessing the existing knowledge through general-purpose AI (or Generative AI) 🧠. Millions of developers around the world can spend less time on mundane tasks, be their creative best, and solve even more complex problems as the complexity of software products will continue to grow as we make progress in fields such as climate, healthcare, autonomy, AR/VR, and decentralization. 😂 At Bito, we are excited to be part of this shift 😄. We want to make generative AI accessible to every developer worldwide and integrate it into their daily work life. The launch of Bito AI Assistance as extensions to popular IDEs like Visual Studio and JetBrain, and browsers like Chrome is the first step in that direction. You can use Bito UI to generate new code, learn new command syntax, generate test cases, find bugs, check for security, identify performance issues, and ask any technical questions. We believe that developers are driving the future of innovation. We want to help accelerate that, making developers be their creative best by taking the mundane task off their plates!! We are at a very early stage in this journey, a long way to go.🚶🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Give Bito a spin, and share your feedback. Mukesh, Co-Founder & CPO, Bito

Thanks everyone for all the comments and feedback! Been truly awesome with hundreds of people trying it out. Bito AI has been an interesting journey for us. We started out focusing on collaboration for developers, but as we talked to engineers all day long, we kept finding that many of the daily tasks just from testing code, to figuring out how to do something, to writing code, making your code secure and performant is a lot to keep track of and manage. Many of them don’t let you do your most creative work. 😤 We thought AI might be able to help and we’re really excited about what we’ve come up with. But, of course, we want to hear from you and get your feedback. -amar PS. A bunch of people have asked us the difference between Bito and Github copilot. copilot just helps with writing code. Bito lets you ask any question, see if your code is secure, automatically write tests, explain code... the list goes on and on.

This looks promising with my first install from the launch day. It surely had started giving me some inputs about my code in IntelliJ IDE. Looks good and promising. Definitely this is going to stay on top of my tools and utilities for a very long time.
Mukesh Agarwal
@vijaydogra thanks. Appreciate your enthusiasm.

Google Chrome extension was easy to install and use. This looks pretty cool. Along with Technical, code samples related questions, you can also ask anything that's there in your mind. What questions do you have for Bito AI ?
Anna Jefferson
@nisha_kmri I asked Bito AI how to create a Java script sign up form in code - and it worked! Mind blown 🤯
Kunal Kumar
Perfect..!!! vscode extension to boost productivity while developing your code. The best part is the AI feature which will help developers to implement high-quality code or get to know about the perfect implementation of the existing codebase. Will recommend this extension to my peers or friends
VijayKumar Dogra
@kmr_kunal Yes, that's a cool feature. I tried it just now after your comment and it seems to be super cool ! This should have been used way before I would have written my piece of code
Manthan Trivedi
