I suppose a group that has a regular place to meet for beer, this works great. For me and my friends, where we meet for beer is highly dependent on other factors, and all this app would do is confirm we all "potentially" wanted beer. I say potentially since I guess the only way to tell if someone isn't interested is if they don't respond to your "beer?!".
Better model would probably be an API link with foursquare so you can swap ideas without having to type and the app keeps track of the most suggested. I suppose almost a tinder format, where everyone on the Beer list quickly swipes through the options and if there is a tie, it prompts for a second decision.
Yo, Beer - Exactly the same apart from the word. No value here at all. Users want value, no ? At least Beer has an external trigger and context. Unlike Yo - which is the modern Poke.
So now people get context.
When do we as a tech community take it to the next level? Eg, 'Beer' + 'Beer' = 'Here are bars in between you guys'. Or, 'meet at this bar in 30 minutes'.
If both people want beers, you have to go off platform, which kind of defeats the purpose of the app (in my opinion).
When I see apps like this, it reminds me how PR = Product in the beginning. Your whole product can be a PR 'joke', and it probably should in the beginning.
@ChuckReynolds bingo. make group - label it BEER, add members, send message "Beer?!", collect replies. Don't leave app.
