Trying to validate a business idea: Embeddable Uploader for saas

With everyone vibe-coding and building SaaS products, will you pay for an embeddable uploader for your SaaS or just build it yourself?

The idea:

  • You would be able to connect any backend enterprise storage like: AWS S3, GCS, Azure blob etc. or any other storage

  • You get an embeddable uploader - a web component that you can add to your dashboard.

Whats in this for you?

  • You focus on your app.

  • We manage your file ingestion

Love the idea especially for solo builders who don’t wanna deal with file handling overhead

Couple quick q’s:

• Can I theme the uploader to match my app’s UI?

• Any plans for built-in virus scanning or file validation?

Would be fun to test this out or even collab on the MVP!

I've used uploadcare in the past. Exact same idea I think. I'd pay for this after a while. If you offer a free version with good enough functionality then later on charge for usage/storage. I think this is very useful.

If I just needed those 2 bullet points (storage + uploading), I would just build it myself. Storage solutions like the ones listed already have pretty good SDKs, and building an uploader on the frontend isn't that hard.

Now if I needed additional processing/transformation of the files after upload, that's when I might not want to build it myself. E.g., if I need to process uploaded images/videos, convert file types, scan for malware, etc., I would certainly pay for a one-stop solution that takes care of all of that.
