Hello Product Hunt community **👋**
We are building beams to help tech employees work better, not more. We started with a Mac Menu Bar App integrated with Google calendar and Slack that guides you through the day from the top of your screen. Now we beamed the product up (pun intended) to another level with the beams Calendar Health Check.
🤯 Do you know the feeling when it’s already the end of the day and you have no idea where all the time went? What did you actually work on? How did you spend your time?
We feel ya. As our beams core product is integrated with calendars we noticed how much valuable information our calendars carry about how we work. Insights that are not always available to us. This is why we built the calendar health check. To help you understand your work patterns better and ultimately help you create more focus time, reduce meetings and work more mindfully.
⛑️ Our calendar health check is like your Fitbit for work, giving you a holistic picture about your calendar health every day. The calendar health score tells you how healthy your calendar looks today and comes along with a suggestion with one thing you can do to improve your day.
You will also receive detailed stats and insights into how much time you spend in meetings vs solo work blocks or focus time, what kind of meetings those are and who you meet with the most. And you can even send your meeting buddies virtual flowers 💐
🦄 This is just the first step to help you understand your work behaviour better. As a next step, we will generate similar insights from further SaaS tools you use (Slack, Notion, Linear,…) and even your desktop behaviour. To give you hyper-personalised context-aware and real time suggestion how you can work with more focus and less stress.
🙏 We are super excited for you to try it and already look forward to your feedback.
@jana_schellong This sounds like a fantastic tool, especially in today's work-from-home culture where the lines between work and rest can blur. I'm particularly interested in the next steps you mentioned, integrating insights from other SaaS tools. How do you see these integrations enhancing the user experience?
@mathias_n thank youuu. Next we want to provide similar insights for other tools like Slack, Notion and Linear and infusing the suggestions in real time into our mac app, so you can act upon them at the right moment :)
Congratulations on the launch! A big thank you to all the developers involved. I was using the beta version, and Beams has significantly improved my work experience on my laptop. Being able to focus on my tasks without having to check the calendar, along with a substantial reduction in screen switching, has improved my work efficiency.
@hikaru_nagashima great to hear that we make positive impact on your work experience :)
Would like to hear your thoughts on the calendar health score feature.
@mihriminaz I also tried out the calendar health score feature, which is an interesting initiative. It was somewhat embarrassing to see from my own calendar that regular meetings have become mere formalities. This health check is valuable for objectively viewing my tasks, and it made me want to increase asynchronous communication to focus more on my tasks!
@hikaru_nagashima recurring meetings is the first meeting types to improve. Did you hear about Shopify cancelling all recurring meetings? (https://www.npr.org/2023/02/15/1...)
we take into consideration also back-to-back meetings with no break, no meeting days and time blockers.
@mihriminaz The Shopify case study is very insightful. I believe that spreading Beams within our organization will change our perception of internal meetings! I'm looking forward to future updates on this fantastic product!!
Gotta love beams! I've been using it for months now, every single day. It's a secret weapon for getting in plenty of "deep work" on a busy schedule. I highly recommend it!
Love it! For me personally, founder mental health is tightly connected to how my calendar looks like: Squeezing in another meeting here and there, and then stressing to get some deep work done as well. Much looking forward to getting some insights :)
@jerome_bau I can so much relate to that. we're using timeboxing a lot to minimize adhoc and back to back meetings. would like to hear more feedback once you use the product for a bit 🙂
Congrats beams, I love your product! I am using beams since over one year now and my work patterns have improved already. I am more focused and feel much more ease and flow during my work day. Thank you for putting in the effort and building such a unique tool. Excited to see what comes next! Especially analyzing my Desktop behaviour would be very valuable. Keep rocking beams!
Great idea, congrats on the launch. I'm curious: how flexible is the Calendar Health Check in understanding diverse work cultures? Is the score customizable? Not all 'busy' calendars equate to unproductiveness, especially in industries where frequent touchpoints are key.
@wintoniak thanks for your question, we definitely agree that the scoring should be more personalised based on your profession/seniority/even goals.
you can check here how we currently calculate:
https://usebeams.com/blog/calend...
We also have a button on score section: Want to personalise your Calendar Health Score? Set your own goals.
To measure how many people request that. you can also from our feature request page request it -> https://beams.productlane.com/ro...
@darya_antonyuk thanks! yes, it suggests improvements like timeboxing/time-blocking, reminds you to block break times between back-to-back meetings, make you aware of the recurring meetings (evaluating meetings is upcoming) 🙂
This is a NEED not a want. I find it SO HARD to prioritize what I need to get done in a day with so many distractions and time sensitive issues. Also as a founder would love to have my whole team on this so I can see where we might be missing opportunities to run more efficiently. Really beautiful design too.
It's amazing!
For startup founders, health is very important. We have to have a sales meeting with our client and develop new features. Seeing a visualization of my schedule will allow me to figure out how to balance my life!
It seems for free, but are you planning to charge?
@naoto_shibata_morph thanks for your comment! we are planning to have it free for individuals with a paid plan for teams. Looks like there are so many teams out there struggling with recurring meetings and overwhelming schedule. We are planning to aggregate the data in an insightful and actionable format.
If you have any further features/insights which would be valuable for your team let us know ;)
This is an innovative approach to calendar management! I can see how this tool could be a game-changer in managing work schedules and improving productivity. I'm particularly interested in the AI aspects of the product. Could you elaborate more on how AI algorithms contribute to the calendar health score? Great work on the launch!
Good luck for the launch, and congrats on a wonderful product. Also, in building a great community and a 'wunderbar' tool (literally - it brings wonder to your menu bar, as well as simplifying your life & productivity). Happy to be an early user and advocate for something that I use daily, hourly ... you get the drill.
Fitbit for my calendar - exciting! All the best folks! 🙌
We launched Wind $0 Business Payouts today as well, feel free to check it out! Would really appreciate it ❤️
