@niklausgerber All of your digital items are encrypted at rest and at motion so no matter what happens, you are safe. We are considering additional authentication methods in the future. I will add your vote for 2-factor authentication to our list.

@nhuebecker Nikolas - Thanks for the idea! Recall already does some of this for you. When you look at your search results, there will be some categories you can click on to drill your search results. But, yes, getting more granular on exact applications is a feature we are considering. Thank you very much!

@travis_murdock Great! But let's talk in specific security terms. Do you guys have end-to-end encryption? Can you decrypt my documents on your servers if need be? Or are all the keys etc saved on my computer? My main concern would be how secure my data is in case everything you have - your source code, your servers, databases etc are compromised.

@raiza_abubakar @mrdhat @atlas thanks I think I did. No end to end, you can decrypt and you have the keys. I have to say it looks really cool but way to scary for me. If this had been done with end to end and local keys I would have been all over it. Right now considering what it will be collecting it's just not secure enough for me. Block list and pausing is cool I just see myself forgetting and a lot of things I don't need/want ending up on your servers. The NSA is going to love you guys ;) Anyway great work though.

@ajimix I believe this project started as open source from creators who interviewed as part of YC15. As such, it appears they can monetize their platform one of two ways: enterprise licensing or support services. Reply to my own question... yes you can turn the recording on/off. Feature request for you... I'd love a hotkey to do this (one where I get a small non-obtrusive visual clue as to whether the recording is on or off). There's a hotkey to open the app and then I can click pause - but a single pause/continue hotkey would be great!

@mleonard Yes, you can Pause the system for a few minutes if you are looking at something sensitive or Block by URL, application or file. @travis_murdock @mleonard I am a beta tester as well. This is probably the main issue why I didn't use Atlas Recall that much - I don't trust myself to remember pausing the tracking. Would you consider disabling the tracking of sensitive content by default? E.g. I allow ManicTime to track everything I do (time, as well as screenshots of what I am doing), and by default, it disables tracking of private browsing. Also, in relation to "Someone from the Atlas team may analyze how you are using the product in order to improve its design and new features, however, we do not have access to the contents of the items (documents or files) remembered through Recall beyond the minimum required to operate Recall and its associated services." - what is the "minimum required"? Can you be more specific?

@leejien @mleonard JIEn Thanks for your questions! Atlas Recall allows you to proactively Block any website, application or file that you don’t want the system to remember. Once Blocked, those items are never seen by the system and never leave your computer. Also, Recall respects Incognito and Private browsing in Chrome and Safari. Nothing you view while in these modes is indexed. The Using Atlas section of the website has more detail and a video. https://www.atlas.co/using-atlas/ Atlas has strong operational procedures to ensure that digital items are never accessed unless it is required to operate the system. Like other cloud services, all security operations team members have been thoroughly vetted with background checks and signed non-disclosure agreements. “Minimum required” means that only when absolutely necessary to run the system. @jpr5 Hey, so this is pretty incredible. The layout, the *everything* that it captures. I love it. However. Every time I spend a few seconds in it, my Macbook Pro's fans fire up and it sounds like my laptop is ready for takeoff. Any other reports of this and/or ideas of what related to Atlas may be causing it? Thanks!

@jetsettinchung Mark, thanks for your question! Spotlight searches the stuff on your hard drive, but misses stuff in the cloud and the data in most of your apps. Google just searches the public web, but misses its own Google Docs. Atlas Recall gives you one search that remembers all the apps and services you already know and love.
