This is the first release so may be buggy - reminds me of Volume Mixer for Mac which got a great response here on PH! With this, you will have to install it yourself: No binaries yet, but building should take less than a minute

@bentossell Alas we at Volume Mixer for Mac were unprepared for the thousands of new users in a few days. We didn't have the notifications/system settings control at the time. Competition is good it forces us to build new features quicker. The attention from this site does remarkable things. Good Luck. Background Music :)

How to install: 1) Press the "Download Zip" button on the left upper corner in Github. 2) Unzip the files. 3) Move the files to the Desktop. 4) Open Terminal. 5) Paste and press enter: cd Desktop 6) Paste and press enter: chmod +x build_and_install.sh 7) Paste and press enter: ./build_and_install.sh 8) If a password is asked, put it in and it should start installing.

@ogirginc I didn't succeed even with this...

@jonathannabais @ogirginc after you go into "cd Desktop" you have to then go into "cd BackgroundMusic-master" ... if that helps.
Charity Amis
@jonathannabais @ogirginc oh, this was a year ago.
Jonathan Nabais
@charity_amis @ogirginc still don't have it haha
Charity Amis
@jonathannabais @ogirginc Actually, me neither.

Can someone make this a .dmg file?
Colin Leber
Why Apple, why. This should be a built in feature not an external program. At least the programm is good.

This is great! I developed http://jmitch.com/serenity specifically to mute Skype and Slack notification sounds when I do VOIP calls. This takes that one step further. Very cool.
Danny Greer
@itsthisjustin This is great, Justin. SIMPLE -- just what I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing!

Reminds me of Media Keys, a chrome extension that allows you to use your keybord's media keys to control a large variety of web players in Google Chrome, and that auto pauses one player when you lauch another : https://chrome.google.com/websto... Great app, can't wait to test it on my Mac !

With the absence of something like this in OSX, it's great to be able to change this! Especially when streaming a lot to your stereo system!

Free alternative to SoundBunny.. nice!

I have been using Hear for 3 years https://www.prosofteng.com/hear-... - it allows you to mix the different sound sources, but also add EQ and sound enhancements to everything (ie: Spotify, which weirdly has no built in EQ for desktop).
Jared Schaffer
works well haven’t encountered any bugs yet. feature request: disable apps (that don’t have audio) from displaying
Víctor
The sound is like the video is in fast-foward
Anna Smith
awesome ^^

Even after removing the application it's still present, such apps are developed with legs.
