Amazon just dropped a really interesting beta feature in their shopping app called "Buy for Me." Essentially, if Amazon doesn't carry an item you search for, this feature lets an AI agent purchase it for you directly from the brand's own website, all without leaving the Amazon app.
This would be like a concrete step into true Agentic Shopping, moving beyond just finding products to actually executing the purchase across different storefronts. It starts to blur the lines between shopping platforms – you're not just limited to what's on Amazon anymore.
It makes you think about the race for the dominant "Shopping Agent." Whichever platform can reliably help users buy things anywhere, not just on their own site, might secure that crucial entry point for how we'll shop in the future. Amazon is clearly making a strong play here.
Agentic shopping solves a fundamental pain. I can't tell how many EC / brand sites I need to run through to "try" and get the best deal. Curious though how this is making sense for Amazon when the sales leave their platform though. Unless this becomes a separate revenue stream.
This solves a huge pain point for loyal Amazon users! How does the AI compare prices across external sites? Will it always prioritize the best deal, or can we set preferences?
Wow, this 'Buy for Me' feature sounds super convenient! It’s great that Amazon’s AI can find and buy items from other sites when they’re not in stock. Does it also compare prices across different brands to ensure the best deal? Either way, this seems like a huge time-saver—excited to try it out!
Love the concept, super clean and fresh. I work with early-stage teams on visual stuff (branding, content, motion etc.) so it’s always cool to see great design in new products, if you ever want a quick visual concept or mockup on the house, happy to help.
This sounds like a fantastic innovation! It's great to see AI being utilized to enhance the shopping experience on Amazon. I'm curious, how does the AI determine which brand websites to source from, and are there any limitations on the types of products it can purchase?
By leveraging an AI agent to enable cross-platform automated purchasing, it addresses the traditional pain point of "out-of-stock equals lost customers," while extending Amazon's ecosystem traffic loop to external websites.

This is one way to become the world's largest online seller, if not the only one! 🤯
@chrismessina Bullish for the stock price of AMZN ;) in the long term :( we need to first survive the impact of tariffs...
