Job boards are so 2010. We built an Al that finds jobs in your feed before you even see them. AMA

Hey folks,

It's a big day for us – not only have we launched something that I've been this much excited about in years, we are also climbing the Product Hunt leaderboard to become the product of the day. Checkout Indy AI.

In the last 5 years, we've built the best platform for independents to work (vetted talent and clients, no commissions, no walled garden). Because of that, we've attracted 1M+ independents, companies, and creative tools.

These are some of the most amazing and talented people in the world. ❤️

There's just one problem: They're still competing on job boards like it's 2010, while their next great opportunity is sitting in their network waiting to be discovered.

That's where Indy AI comes in.

Indy AI is your personal assistant that finds opportunities in your network on autopilot. Just tell Indy your preferences, and it reads every post on Contra, LinkedIn, and X to surface opportunities that match your skills and interests. Like or dislike opportunities, and Indy learns from your feedback. It literally finds the best opportunities in your network while you sleep.

In just weeks of trialing, we've saved our users tens of thousands of hours of doomscrolling and found thousands of high-value opportunities.

AMA and me and Contra team will answer!

Launching soon!

Gajus!!!! Love what you guys built here. That’s why I hunted it obviously :)

Quick Q for you:

what does the next 6-12 months roadmap look like for Indy AI? What other market signals are you seeing?

Gajus Kuizinas

@thisiskp_ Thanks man!

At the moment, our focus is on making opportunity search a thing of the past.

We will continue to refine the way that you set your preferences and how we sort the opportunities for you. We want to make it very snappy, and want to make sure that you are always the first to the race when the right opportunity emerges.

Then after we identify the opportunities, we want to turn Indy into an accountability partner. Something that checks in with you to make sure you follow up with leads, actively share on social media your accomplishments, etc. I see it evolving into kind of a growth coach for your independent career.

Then there is the whole area of helping you to learn, grow your network, etc. I am very excited about the idea of everyone having access to a personal assistant for information synthesis not just for opportunities, but for everything. I talk more about the old vs new, and what's coming in this thread https://x.com/kuizinas/status/1952807716189082064

TLDR there is a lot and we are all very excited about it!

If I missed anything that you excited about it, do please let me know.

@kuizinas love the thinking here. Lots of potential obviously but i like the growth coach angle.

@kuizinas  @thisiskp_ Tools are everywhere, accountability and directional clarity aren’t. That’s where i think the real leverage is.

Peter Lae

Congrats on your big day! What’s the early feedback been from the beta testers?

Allison Nulty

@pe_lae Great to meet you - I lead product at Contra! Thanks for your question. Early feedback has been even more positive than we could have imagined.

My personal favorite is hearing that Indy AI is an example of how AI can empower creatives and open up space for them to innovate, rather than take away from that. That's always been our vision for bringing AI and creativity together, and we love to hear that echoed in feedback.

We launched the first version 3 weeks ago to our closest insiders - the biggest point of feedback was wanting to customize what Indy was finding based on their current focus. You may be a product designer and a Framer developer, but want to focus on short-term Framer projects only when it comes to new work. We built opportunity preferences to help you customize your Indy experience beyond what your profile says which became a game changer for the experience.

Beyond this, we've consistently heard that Indy is an unlock to reduce doom scrolling and increase the conversion of opportunities to projects. We know its early, but we're excited to unlock the potential of everything Indy can be

Gajus Kuizinas

@pe_lae ++ to what Allison said. It's been bananas.

Personally, I am the most surprised by the number of people who are asking about using Indy for use cases we didn't even consider. I've seen a range as broad as people searching for full-time/consulting gigs, to people asking if they can use it for sales, business development, etc. At the moment, Indy is calibrated for the specific use case of searching opportunities, but I think we will need expand the definition of what's an opportunity. I like this because it brings new people people to our platform that otherwise would not have joined Contra for a long time.

What are your first impressions?

Nicholas Charriere

Congrats on the launch today. Curious to know - who’s the ICP that’s resonating the most? Designers or developers?

Gajus Kuizinas

@nichochar Thanks! It works for everyone. Because it connects to your network, the opportunities it surfaces are already relevant to your skill set, whether that's design, development, or something else entirely. The magic is that it's personalized to who you know and what kind of work you're after, rather than a generic feed.

Huge respect for what you and the team shipped.

Quick question for you:

Are there any key market signals shaping where you're headed?
