I have been a user of the beta version of Alice for many months. Since I've been using this application, I've been seriously considering whether there's any point in paying for access to ChatGPT Plus, since I perform almost every action in Alice.
The ability to bring up the application window with a simple keyboard shortcut is simply brilliant and saves an incredible amount of time. The ability to save pre-prepared (sometimes very elaborate) prompts in the application also makes things effortless.
If an Alice user is familiar with programming (or at least embraces no-code solutions), he or she can easily add remote actions and integrations to the assistant via webhooks (I'm using Make to handle that.)
I haven't yet used the integration with models outside of OpenAI ecosystem, but for the daily grind of my business, the GPT-4 integration is completely sufficient.
@yochevedb thank you! Not in the near future - we focus on productivity and this happens on desktop, but a companion mobile app seems like a good idea too!
As the designer responsible for Alice's UI, my aim was to craft an interface that's not just beautiful with its modern design but also simple for anyone to use. I focused on making sure you could navigate through it smoothly, find what you need without any hassle, and complete your tasks quickly. My biggest hope is that Alice becomes more than just another app; I want it to be a reliable helper you turn to every day for support, making your daily routine easier and more efficient. @gregrog @sentry_co At this stage of AI development, a solution that can be customized seems more appropriate than trying to create something that fits everyone. This obviously draws a certain barrier of knowledge or skills necessary to design (often simple) integrations.
So, for now, Alice is created in the form of a kind of "blank slate" on which you can draw whatever you want 🙂
@gregrog @overment I see your point. Altho. What about this: You make an An AI that can work with Alice and design the flows for you. So you describe it and it tries to line up the flows. It just felt a bit overwhelming in the videos. But maybe my impression is wrong. Maybe just make the videos for simpler cases and then the viewer is easier sold and can tinker them selfs. I guess you are right tho. We are in the "Tinker AI era" We are not in the "everything just works from a single command AI era" yet
@overment @sentry_co maybe that's overwhelming for a start, but in fact this can be easily accomplished by anyone, even non technical person. The fact that you can tweak it is on this stage an advantage, because literally you can do whatever you want with it.
Realistically, there's absolutely no way you tell AI do come up with flows like this nowadays and that's just a simple hack for making it really useful.
Going through a basic playlist will get you there in one hour. And I guarantee once you learn how this works you'll be like a kid in Disneyworld! 🎢
does the lifetime deal come with Make blueprints and scenarios as seen in the youtube tutorials? also, do you have a public roadmap? :)
@jjmanno thanks for asking! All we put on website is free, we also have an extensive library of knowledge on techsistence.com and on YouTube. We're thinking, however, about launching a cohort for AI and automation. We have so much to share!
Don't have public roadmap just yet, it's a great idea. I'm sharing what we have internally as some possible future features, but it's not sure just yet:

- [ ] Ability to add files to assistants
- [ ] Compact version after selecting text
- [ ] Voice communication capability like with Siri
- [ ] Access to all or defined internet resources
- [ ] Memory and information saving
- [ ] Native integrations, e.g. Google calendar
- [ ] Support for PDF, CSV files, etc.

@dimitrie_baitanciuc it's the best version of it with LLMs for now. What future brings, we'll be ready. Native integrations will come to Alice one day 🫡

@chris_ravenscroft not at this time. There's some free credits so it would be too costly for us! But there's a 14 day no-questions-asked refund and if that's a blocker, dm me and I will fix a trial for you no problem :)
For those of us who pay for ChatGPT+ (yay, GPT access!), can we use this subscription with Alice, or is Alice only able to leverage ChatGPT v4 via (paid) API or the Alice monthly credits option?
@thatadamguy you don't need ChatGPT subscription nor it's useful for Alice. You plug in your API Key from OpenAI, or use or Credits plan to chat with Alice. Usually it's much cheaper than Chat, but depends on the usage and models!
I watched the demo and was really impressed. I like the idea of integrating AI assistants with webhooks. It shows excellent potential for personalization in your workflow. However, here's my first impression:
- I'm a full stack engineer, and I couldn't make remote function work. I think that says everything.
- I felt like many of the features were half-baked - you could see the vision, but it was not quite there yet.
- Snippets and assistants miss a global launcher with autocomplete. I would prefer that instead of memorizing more shortcuts.
- I would make Snippets into Assistants. I would have Snippets be Actions/Tools (or remote actions) and use something like the OpenAI assistant API to be reliable in the use of tools and how they are managed separately from the context window visible to the user. I would give each assistant access to their own tools. And I would enable instructing an assistant to ask another one by @mentioning them while talking to any assistant. E.g. "Ask @lyn to book a meeting next Monday with Sophie. @alex has her contact."
In summary, here is what it would look like.
First message: @Amy can you rewrite this for me to make it less directive.
Second message: @Frank can you send this by email to sophie. @Lise has her contact details.

@florian_pariset thanks a lot for the comment! You just mentioned you judge by the demo and I ensure you, there's probably more magic to the app in it's current shape as you suspect.
The ideas you state are awesome and some of them are already here! Assistants have their own Snippets, calling snippets is easy with the shortcut, remote functions are doable. Mentioning in the close future! And also, AI in general (for agents) is just not there yet. What we do I believe is best possible approach after testing many for over a year. And once it's fully ready, we'll be ready, too :)
I've been observing the development of this project closely for more than a year now. I even used Alice's predecessor.
I've seen @overment "giving birth" to Alice. I saw how he taught her the first steps, how well he's been raising her, and now I am witnessing Alice reaching adulthood. Quite an achievement if you ask me.
For what it's worth - knowing Adam's and Greg's passion for quality, you won't regret supporting them.
