TikTok Refugees - Where to next?

With the recent TikTok ban, many US users (#TikTokRefugees) are now flocking to Xiaohongshu (RedNote), a Chinese social media app with no English UI.
It has now become the #1 downloaded app in the US. What are your thoughts on this unexpected shift?
Is the surge organic, or do you think there's a strategic play behind?
And more importantly, where are you and your brand influencers moving to next?

For influencers, Instagram reels makes sense, for founders Youtube shorts might work better.

As far as I know, that ban is for all ByteDance products (including Lemon8). Isn't it?

@kissonlin Just asking because I stumbled upon this article today:

so just wanna make sure.
@busmark_w_nika yeah no one uses Lark (their Slack) in US.
Did you pay cat tax on Xiaohongshu? Lol
You can even receive a receipt.

Probably not a favourite answer, but I would say Instagram Reels...
The RedNote trend might be temporary. For short video platforms, content and connections matter most. If people keep using Instagram, short video usage will likely grow over time.
But who knows, probably TikTok will sell to Elon Musk and they could stay at TikTok.
Instagram Reels. TikTok users moving to Rednote is just a phase—it probably won’t last...
definitely rednote
Why waste time on another Chinese App and risking deletion. Why not switch to IG?
It could probably be RedNote, because RedNote shares some similarities with TikTok. So far, I have already seen many TikTok refugees migrating to RedNote.
I'm really curious about RedNote's rise. If it continues to dominate.
Reels for sure.
I'm curious if RedNote can keep up the hype without making it more user-friendly
I'm not ready to leave TikTok yet, but YouTube Shorts is my backup.
Does RedNote have features similar to TikTok, or is it completely different?
I'm waiting to see what Product Hunt highlights next always something new there.
RedNote gathers a lot of young people, I like to socialize there, it is very fun!
