Chrome extension or App when it comes to screen recording tools?

I think that most will agree that apps offer better recording and editing quality, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. What I really want to know is, what is your personal preference? Do you find chrome extensions more convenient or does it make a difference to you at all?

app. and i prefer camtasia studio. heavily biased because i've been using it for a long time. and a poorly made chrome extension can eat up a lot of unwanted resources.
