Building up referral traffic is important long term and as we're about to launch our software in the public, I would love to know the best places you would recommend to list your startup?

@akigugale Cool thanks a lot !

Hands down, Product Hunt. 🙌 And after you launch, I'd say Twitter is the best place to keep the conversation going and promote.

If you have an AI component to your start-up, there are number of new directories. I had some success with https://www.futurepedia.io/

I guess PH, Reddit, and IndieHackers are good enough for my product. But the answer really depends on what your product is about and where are your targeted audience.
Walton Brooks
PH, LinkedIn, Reddit
Ekrem Çetinkaya
IndieHackers, PH, Twitter. Also, If you are launching something with AI, there are couple of platforms that do the listing for you
Zapmail : Slack as an email service
Zapmail : Slack as an email service
Ofc PH for sure. Apart from that I put my product Zapmail on betalist, and honestly it did great. I got around15-20 leads from Betalist in just one week and 100+ website visits.
Martha Snooper
Product Hunt, Indie Hackers and Reddit
John Carmichael
@marthasnooper ah cool! I did not know about https://www.indiehackers.com Maybe I do not get Redit, but I tried post a couple of time on Redit and it just keeps removing my posts for some reason. Do you have put in the time to Redit until it recognises you as human and not bot?
John Carmichael
@marthasnooper Do you have any good Redit group names to join that are active?
Martha Snooper
@john_carmichael Don't frequently post on Reddit else it will block your account. Just manage your account with few non promotional activities for few months and then you shall be able to post there.
John Carmichael
@marthasnooper yea I find it hard to get into it all.. so much content, and it feels like a lot of work even to just get into a community (because of the bot problem it seems). I've only tried posting 2 or 3 times there in the last 10 years... maybe I will give it another try then.
Frank Sondors
@marthasnooper @john_carmichael John, I use f5bot.com to track specific keywords and then jump aboard the convo. So I only do comments and barely ever post FOR NOW
Vladimir Malyavko
I would recommend different communities like Entre, Makers, Maketo and Momentum also

great question, I think it depends on your vertical but I think appsumo could be another industry agnostic platform ?

@profy17 indeed, lifetime deals are a big commitment that might not work for all, but sometimes this can help boost momentum and tied to a smart referral program that could end up being a nice leverage to get non lifetime deals customers
Frank Sondors
@julien_fayad agree. I'm not a big fan of lifetime deals though!
Frank Sondors
@julien_fayad good tip. need to set up my referral program.

Curious about this too

Hey, good discussion opened up here! Actually, I have a site, and I recently talked about "21 Best Startup Directories to Promote Your Business for Free." PH, OpenMoo, Killerstartups, Betalist, Startup Tags, are some of the best startups out there. I put a few here, but if you want to view all of the 21 I mentioned, you can always visit my article, read it for free and check what's up :D https://tigerteamx.com/blog/post...

@tigerteamx great share, appreciate it.

Listing your startup in the right places is crucial for gaining visibility and attracting potential investors, customers, and partners. Here are some of the best places to list your startup: 1. Startup Directories: Websites like Crunchbase, AngelList, and Product Hunt allow you to create a profile for your startup, showcase your product or service, and connect with the startup community. 2. Business Directories: Registering your startup on popular business directories like Google My Business, Yelp, and Yellow Pages can help you reach local customers and improve your search engine visibility. 3. Social Media Platforms: Create business profiles on popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. These platforms allow you to engage with your target audience, share updates, and build a community around your startup. 4. Industry-Specific Directories: Depending on your industry, there may be specialized directories and platforms that cater to startups in your niche. For example, if you're in the technology sector, you can explore directories like Capterra or G2 Crowd. 5. Startup Events and Competitions: Participate in startup events, conferences, and competitions to gain exposure and network with potential investors and partners. Many events have startup directories or pitch sessions where you can showcase your business. 6. Local Business Associations: Join local business associations or chambers of commerce that offer directories or member listings. This can help you connect with other entrepreneurs and businesses in your area. In the end every one needs marketing services and if you would like to market your product using mobile marketing then I would highly recommend using APPFILLIP as this is one of the best in the market for ASO services and any kind of mobile marketing your app needs according to me. 7. Press Release Platforms: Submit press releases about your startup to platforms like PR Newswire, PRWeb, or Business Wire. This can help you generate media coverage and reach journalists who might be interested in your story. 8. Crowdfunding Platforms: If you're looking to raise funds for your startup, consider listing it on crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or SeedInvest. These platforms allow you to showcase your product or idea and attract potential backers. 9. Startup Blogs and Publications: Reach out to relevant startup blogs and industry publications to feature your startup. Getting coverage on platforms like TechCrunch, Forbes, or Entrepreneur can significantly boost your visibility. 10. Your Own Website: Lastly, don't forget to create an informative and engaging website for your startup. Include details about your product or service, team, and contact information. Optimize your website for search engines to improve organic discoverability. Remember, listing your startup is just the beginning. Actively engage with the platforms and communities you join, share updates, respond to inquiries, and build relationships to maximize the benefits of these listings.
