Hi Product Hunt family! For those unfamiliar with Univerbal, it’s an AI language learning app that’s like having your own private tutor. Our main focus for this overhaul was putting the language learner in the driver's seat. Additionally, we put a lot of effort into balancing what learners are keen to talk about with what educators know are the most beneficial language skills to focus on at any level. What do you want to learn? 🤔 We worked hard together with language educators from the University of Zurich to find a way to create a curriculum that focuses on what the student wants to learn AND what's the most important language skill (from a didactic point of view) to learn at any given time. Achieve your Goals 🥅 You clearly know what skills you’re working towards at point in time and how you can progress in those efficiently! If you don't feel like working on that specific language skill, no problem! Have a go at a different one, do a practice exercise or chat with your AI tutor about your day. It's all in your hands! Your study plan 📋 You can create or edit your study plan whenever you feel like it. If you’ve have been studying for your TOEFL test, but now need to prep for an interview, just edit your study plan and it will always keep up with what is most relevant to you! Get your speaking speed boost!🚀 The number 1 thing we hear from our users is that with the first 2 weeks of using Univerbal they get a confidence boost and feel much more comfortable talking in front of other people. If you get stuck or freeze up during conversation or are too shy to even start a conversation with someone, you might want to give Univerbal a try. To celebrate the launch, we’re giving everyone 30% off on the 3M and 12M plan at this link https://chat.univerbal.app/checkout with code STUDYPLAN (only valid on web). Tell us what you think, here, in the app or on Discord. P.S. We support all these languages currently 🇺🇸 American English, 🇳🇱 Dutch, 🇫🇷 French, 🇩🇪 German, 🇬🇷 Greek, 🇮🇹 Italian, 🇵🇹 Portuguese (Portugal), 🇧🇷 Portuguese (Brazil), 🇪🇸 Spanish, 🇸🇪 Swedish, 🇨🇿 Czech, 🇩🇰 Danish, 🇫🇮 Finnish, 🇮🇩 Indonesian, 🇯🇵 Japanese, 🇵🇱 Polish, 🇷🇴 Romanian, 🇷🇺 Russian, 🇹🇷 Turkish, 🇨🇳 Mandarin Chinese, 🇺🇦 Ukrainian, 🇰🇷 Korean, 🇳🇴 Norwegian Bokmål Let us know which ones to add next.

@hadjimina Seems like a cool learning experience; exactly what language learning should look like in 2024! Congrats on the launch!

@hadjimina Anything involving interactive learning is a charm. Great product and would get my hands to do a dip check. Congrats on the launch, Philipp!

💡 Bright idea
Looks really cool! I had the test flight version ages ago, and it looks like it's come a long way! I would love a "hands free" version for more advanced learners where you can just chat in your target language while running/cleaning apartment/washing dishes etc without having to look at a screen. Keep up the great work ⭐️
Philipp
@alex_cyphus Yeah...that was ages ago that we did an open testflight 😅. There is already a "hands-free light" mode I'd say where you can set it up for auto-submit and auto-recording but it's not 100% the same as a complete handsfree mode that you might be able to use in a car. Putting it on the feature request list 😊

@hadjimina This is a cool concept and seems like an actually useful way to implement AI into every day use cases like language learning! What languages have the largest learning library at the moment? and naturally, how does Univerbal differ as an experience to something like Duolingo?
Philipp
@jamesyang8 That's a great question! Personally, I don't see Duolingo as the competition. I see online tutoring platforms as the competition. We are really focused on making the highest quality of langauge education more accessible and nothing beats 1:1 tutoring. So while Duolingo uses a ton of gamification to keep people engaged we focus on people actually getting more confidence in speaking in personalized conversational practice.
