Hey PH!
I'm the developer behind SyntaxDB (formerly SyntaxCenter). I built the site when I realized I was spending too much of my day using Google to look up code samples and simple programming syntax. SyntaxDB focuses on two things: being the fastest programming reference (cutting out clutter present in existing documentation), and having a consistent experience across all of the languages available.
Some points I'd like to highlight:
- SyntaxDB has several integrations, including a Slack Bot (get syntax and code snippets within Slack), a Visual Studio Code extension (search syntax within your editor), and a DuckDuckGo Instant Answer (instant syntax result). These integrations are built to make syntax lookup using SyntaxDB quicker than using Google search. More are coming, specifically with plugins to support additional editors.
- All of the aforementioned integrations are built using the now available SyntaxDB API!
- All the content on the site is actually hand-written and not parsed from existing sites. The API documentation format for each language is different, so parsing wouldn't provide a consistent experience across languages.
- Because all of the content is hand-written, there may be a few errors and omissions. If you spot one, I'd really appreciate it if you sent me a correction using the "Feedback" button on the top right of the concept's page. I plan on tripling the amount of content on the database soon, so hopefully omissions eventually become a non-issue.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out SyntaxDB, I'd be happy to hear your feedback or answer questions!
Cheers,
Anthony
Something to add: SyntaxDB's database will eventually open up to contributors. If you're interested, send a note to anthony [at] syntaxdb.com and I'll keep you in the loop!
