Basically a scam. The claim process is so bad, it is clearly designed to make it as difficult as possible to make a claim. After two attempted claims, I have found that claims are always rejected with no clear explanation. If you then go through the appeal process you will get a message stating something like "this condition is not covered" and no further details. When I spoke to the doctor about getting a letter of support and he asked which insurance company. When I told him, he looked at his system and advised that the hospital have refused to have any dealings with them after previous experience.
Run away from this company. I've been a customer for 18+ months, had a few claims from earlier this year when I was sick which included blood test and examinations from GP, another that required x-ray and surgery to my foot after an injury while hiking. It's been over 6 months since the first claim and I've still not heard back after following up on multiple occaisions. The surgery claim was denied but thankfully I had other insurance through my credit card which granted my claim within 24 hours. The process to submit a claim is also awful, takes about 20-30 minutes to complete. Safetywing is just a front for Tokio Marine Insurance which has terrible reviews. Save your time and money and go with a proper company like Allianz (the insured my credit card used which responded within 24 hours).
Easy to use and buy a nomad insurance and good feedback in other experiences from other people.
Do not hire this insurance. They are just going to steal your money. I paid it for 3 months in Asia and had a couple of medical issues, and they said they are not going to reimburse it. They are a scam.
I HAVE FILED A CLAIM with SAFETY WING/ WORLD TRIPS/TOKIO MARINE (all the same company) and what they did - they only found unreasonable excuses not to pay me! I got hospitalised in Thailand with Spontaneous Pneumothorax, the doctors told me its regular INSURED EMERGENCY CASE! MAP from Safety Wings tried to BARGAIN the hospital for too long NOT TO PAY THE FULL PRICE OF MY TREATMENT, so I had to pay all bills beforehand by myself because all their bargaining postponed my urgent treatment while I WAS IN A SEVERE PAIN!! The Pakistani guy is their so-called Medical Audit Professional, after my doctor talked to him he said "He is not a doctor, he has no medical knowledge!" By now I still didn't get payed! They offer money to my hospital directly (half price) and now rejecting to pay me anything??? Easy target! Just find a stupid excuses, no need to pay! PLEASE NEVER TRYST THIS COMPANY! THET ARE FRAUDS NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY!
Have been using the Safety Wing remote health plan for the last few months. the insurance is offered by my employer for most remote working people. They have a very good plan and the claim process is pretty easy and simple. customer support is always reachable at any time with a speedy reply to queries. overall, it worked well for me in the last six months.
Honestly, the service of SafetyWing has decayed a lot in the past few months. I've been using SafetyWing for more than a year now and in the beginning I had nothing bad to say, however in the past few months there's been several issues. They advertised in the beginning of the year that claims would be reviewed and reimbursed faster (7 days or less) and if I can be honest it was even faster than that, but in the last month or two they changed this for 10 - 15 days (and it's really 10 - 15 BUSINESS days) for someone that made a whole meeting about the things they were changing for best and then some months later they just changed it back, speaks a lot. 2 months ago I've made a claim for a specialised doctor that despite taking some days to be reimbursed it was reimbursed, but for my surprise, I've made a 2nd doctor appointment (exactly the same appointment as before) and this one came rejected with an explanation that even makes any sense (the idea that gives me was that the person who reviewed this claim didn't had any idea what that specialised doctor was and it didn't take some time to search it). After this, I've sent an e-mail to safetywing, they replied that I needed to make an appeal to their other e-mail and it would take 5 business days to reply, which I did on the last 15th May, 12 days have passed and until this day I didn't receive any reply, not even saying that my case was being analysed. I've spoke with someone on safetywing website but even them didn't know anything and the only information they gave me was that "I needed to wait they will eventually get back to you", when asked about an e-mail to make a proper complaint they said they didn't had it. So, if you have any problems with this company rest assured that you don't have a way to complaint and they will not solve the issued they made for themselves. I have already sent 2 more emails to their appeals e-mail but all of them without a reply - I feel that this company is starting to be a scam as they don't reply to customers, reject all claims without a proper explanation and when we make an appeal they just ignore.
