Ivy Documents is file management based on tags, instead of folders, with a host of document workflow tools like signatures, auto pdf conversion, expiration tracking and notifications, logs and metadata.
Hey PH! My friend @njinuity started this with the idea that there are better ways to organize our files. It's grown a lot since then - please direct questions to him!
Hi PH! Thanks @ehnree for hunting us.
Ivy Documents is tags based file management- we started to help people who needed strict file control (undergo audits) manage their documents using tags to organize their files.
Documents often need to be used in different contexts or groupings - but folders force you to put them in one location, leading to digging through multiple folders to get what you want. Alternatively, people make copies and put them in a bunch of other folders, creating a versioning nightmare. Tags solve this by letting you flexibly group and sort your documents. Since this initial idea we've expanded a lot, but I'm new to PH so only discovering this now!
If you have any questions or feedback, Iโm happy to talk! Weโre only through a web interface right now, but weโre thinking about creating a desktop application to access/save your files directly. If this is something youโd be interested in Iโd love to hear from you.
What actually is Ivy Documents? ๐ Seems like a lot of jargon/marketing speak โ is it a service that actually hosts your files, or is it a web service where you connect existing storage via Google Drive or some sync app, or perhaps a plugin for Finder/Windows Explorer?
@iamsebj You store your files on Ivy directly. It's through a web interface now, so think of it like interacting with Dropbox's web version. You upload documents and can interact with them on the web platform.
We're working on a version to be able to work with/tag files on your desktop rather than upload them to us through the web interface, but that's something we're still considering how much interest there is. Is that clear?
