@mahbodmoghadam@eriktorenberg@samkazemian@teddef the way I got involved is sam showed me the site after my talk at UCLA and I lost my shit! I never thought they would let me get involved tho. I am a crippled person, I have seizures every day, it is hard for me to even get out of bed. I was never planning on working full-time again, I am doing this because I think everipedia is MAJOR disruptive insane shit and these boys are fucking geniuses.
@eriktorenberg EP started when I was told I wasn't cool enough to have a Wikipedia page. So Teddy & I decided to build a thug version of Wikipedia that anyone or anything could be on. We also quickly realized that just searching by name on EP would be difficult if so much good content is on the site so we decided to also code a feature for searching by URL (if you enter a link into EP search you'll get taken to any page that has that link on it so all you need to find someone or something on EP is 1 link).
@mahbodmoghadam@eriktorenberg Definitely Zuck. I think if he saw EP he would be proud. In fact, he used to say at all the early facebook lectures at Harvard: "Facebook is a directory and the primary purpose is to look up someone...I think that wanting to look people up, is kind of like a core human desire." That's exactly what EP helps you do, even better than facebook! citation: http://everipedia.com/zuck/link1...
@eriktorenberg I am trying to steal disaffected people from Genius.. also we are trying to get everipedia to the top of product hung!! we heard that is the key to GROWF...
I certainly like the idea. I just feel like the site is lacking in content when it comes to the pages. I think the pages should be much more immersive, almost like a timeline of links sorted chronologically filled with rich media and more. Just feels a bit plain at the moment, but I'm sure you guys are working on that! :)
@mahbodmoghadam@jsngr just upvoted Jordan's Product Hunt link on his Everipedia page.
Thoughts on Everipedia:
I don't contribute to Wikipedia because it seems like a lot of work, and I'm afraid they'll start emailing me asking for donations. I also wouldn't try to create my own Wikipedia page because I'm not sure what the standards are for creating one. I like that Everipedia lowers the friction/anxiety/effort needed to be a contributor.
One thing I'm interested in knowing is how would people have used Everipedia during the Drake v. Meek Mill battle. Some trolls were changing Meek Mill's Wikipedia page to say he was murdered by Drake. How would the internet trolls have fun with Everipedia?
@daperzer@jsngr the ONLY RULE of Everipedia is that it is a "POSITIVITY ZONE" - that means you're not allowed to say anything mean. Not even about Lena Dunham. Not even about Mark Suster. (TRUST ME IT IS DIFFICULT EVEN FOR ME!)
So for Drake/Meek, hopefully the entries would be more focused on how bomb Drake is.. cause he really is! Drake is the "Muse of Everipedia" - I love him so much.
