Unofficial Notion Webhooks are a way for Notion users to passively receive updates from their workspace. These webhooks can be integrated into custom software or no code tools like zapier to create automations.
Hey everyone 👋
My name is Ian and I'm the creator of Unofficial Notion Webhooks.
I have been a Notion customer for a couple years now and was excited to see that they had recently published their API docs. While the new API is going to unlock a ton of doors for users, one piece that I felt was missing was support for webhooks.
Webhooks are powerful because they allow you to passively listen for updates, which in this case would be Notion Workspace changes. Once a change occurs on your workspace, a message will be sent via a webhook which can go where ever you want. That destination can be custom software or a Zapier/Integromat integration. Once received you can do things with the data like send an email, write a tweet, update a website... the possibilities are endless.
Being that I run a Webhooks as a Service platform (www.hostedhooks.com), I took the weekend to build a solution that would give Notion users the ability to receive webhooks from their Notion workspace.
This came together as Unofficial Notion Webhooks.
We currently support database row creation and updates but will be building in support for the page object type soon.
How it works:
1. You create an API integration for your workspace which will generate an API token
2. Share the notion page (the one you want webhook updates from) with that integration
3. You share the API token with our platform
4. You give us the database page ID that you want us to monitor
5. We will monitor it for changes
6. When we recognize a change, we will use HostedHooks (Webhooks as a Service platform) to deliver the webhook to your endpoint
It's that easy!
As a user you will have a portal that you can log in to and manage your webhook messages, which could easily be tied into Zapier or Integromat to build out some automations.
As of right now I have no intention of charging for Unofficial Notion Webhooks and also realize that Notion will likely build out webhooks of their own down the line (Notion let's talk 🙂 ). If you don't want to wait for that unknown date then I welcome you to give our webhooks a shot.
Thanks for checking it out and I hope you like it!
@igrabill Congratulations on the launch! Can you please update the thumbnail GIF? It seems like the first frame of the GIF is a blank slide and that's why the thumbnail is not visible on the website. This happens because the GIFs do not auto-play. They play only on hovering :)
