Posture Pal helps you improve your neck and shoulder posture by using the motion sensors in Apple's AirPods. Start a Posture Session and Posture Pal will keep track of your neck tilt and will alert you when a bad posture is detected, even in the background.

Posture Pal is available for macOS Sonoma today! Improve your work posture by wearing your AirPods. A macOS version was the number one requested feature since the iOS app became App of the Month in China back in April 2022. Now in macOS Sonoma Apple added the necessary APIs 🙂 While you're working, Rafi and friends are keeping an eye on your posture by using the motion sensors in your AirPods. When you start slouching, they will appear from the bottom of your screen for a fun yet very effective warning! Congrats on your launch! Had a few questions: 1. How does this impact battery life? 2. How did you come up with this idea? 3. Do you have any plans for future AirPod app ideas? (I LOVE the innovation of taking advantage of internal sensors.) Congrats on your launch! Purchased and downloaded. ⚡️ btw, solid advertising on twitter replies. Not spamming, authentic replies, etc. I appreciate it. <3 Edit: Downloaded and rocking with this for 10 min now on my MacBook. Characters are super cute. Working great for AirPods v2 and MacBook M2. Would love to be able to adjust my head angle up a bit more. Turning sensitivity to high works great for me. Thank you!

@esus thanks for the questions 1. It does not affect battery life at all, whenever your AirPods are connected and active on your Mac, the motion data is already being sent to the system anyway (for things like Spatial Audio). Posture Pal is just piggybacking off of that 🙂 2. I once had an Upright Go, a little thing you stuck to your neck which would vibrate for bad posture. AirPods seem less cyborgy 😉 3. I'm currently working on Push Up Pal (https://x.com/jordibruin/status/...) and other related workout apps that use the AirPods motion sensors Could you clarify what you mean with "solid advertising on twitter replies"? Do you mean how I respond to how people replied to my announcement tweets? I'll look into adding more granular sensitivity settings and a nicer calibration mode to visualize how your posture is seen by the system. Thanks for the super thorough reply!

Love the idea! 🙌 The pals are cute! By the way, is there any way we could make this for other earbuds(having motion sensors)? Of course, airpods should work the best in Apple Ecosystem. But, is there chance for others in the future?

@baruns thanks! The API I'm using is really made to work with Apple's supported headphones so I don't see a way to add support for other headphones right now.
