A personal diary/journal app where users truly own their data. The entries are downloadable as CSV files and the source code is fully open on GitHub. Features includes markdown support, custom templates, Emoji stamps, tags, flexible reports, etc.
Hi, I'm the developer of Papery ๐
I built this tool because I wanted a journal app thatโs truly independent from any one company. After all, who wants to risk losing all their data if the company goes under?
With Papery, you can:
โ Download entries anytime in CSV format
โ Download the source code and self-host it on your server
This way, you always have the option to stop using Papery without losing your historical data.
Here are features we haven't yet included at the moment:
- Mobile apps
- Image upload
- Data import
Lastly, if you're not sure if this tool is for you, please try our demo.
It's available on our top page.
Thanks for reading ๐
@uzu_yuya Papery sounds like a great tool for journaling with a strong focus on data independence and user control.
I do have a question: Are there any limitations on the size or number of journal entries that can be exported as a CSV file?
@miko_markovic11 Thanks for the comment! Yes, data independence is the key motivation of this. And no, there is no limitations on the size of the download. You can download it at anytime, with any amount.
@uzu_yuya Papery sounds like a fantastic solution for those concerned about data ownership and independence. I'm curious, what inspired you to prioritize CSV download and self-hosting options over features like mobile apps and image uploads? Looking forward to learning more about your thoughtful approach to journaling!
@ena_gluhakovic Thank you for the message! I prioritized download and open-source feature because user's data ownership is my primary motivation to build Papery. I think it's better to build essential features first and nice-to-have features later.
I like emoji calendar, it's really cute! Mood tracker as well. Though no matter how much I tried, paper diary always wins for me.
All the best guys, I'm sure you'll find your audience!
@anastasiia_stepko Thanks! I understand that. Even for me, I always liked pen & paper over any diary apps out there. That's why I wanted to make something even better than pen & paper. I will try :)
