It’s Dave here, one of the founders at Outlign. We are relieved 😂 to finally launch on product hunt after 2 years of balancing our agency work and making this product.
Our company started with a conversation about how we could make project management easier for our design agency and the shortcomings of the tools we were using at the time. Some of the things we were struggling with were;
- Projects were constantly over budget and delivered late
- Our process knowledge was scattered in various docs
- The project team was struggling to consistently follow the process
- We didn’t have time to train our team or share knowledge
- Worst of all, we had cranky clients, silly mistakes and slipping standards
What we realised is we didn’t have a way to plan, store and launch repeatable processes for our projects and one place where all of our agency know-how could be housed. So we built Outlign to help us become better and after in-depth real-world QA, it’s ready for other teams to enjoy.

⚡️ Introducing an original project management idea
Outlign uses phases and steps as building blocks to make a process. Phases divide projects into clear milestones, with an indication of where you’re up to at any time and then steps are the way divide up the work inside phases, into achievable parts.
This helps both the agency and the client to glance the global view of the process and then rapidly zoom the focus on the immediate work to be done.
Outlign is designed to lead the client through a process in a sequential way, orientating everyone to focus on one part of the project at a time. Steps feature the ability to launch forms (to gain feedback and avoid wrong turns) and set approvals that the client must accept (or decline) to be able to progress to the next step (eliminating the awkward "I never approved that!" convo)

PS - If you are already using Basecamp, Asana, Monday, Trello, Wrike or others you don’t need to switch everything. Other agencies are using these tools to organise the work and outlign to run process projects with clients. Or you can totally do it all here on outlign 😁.
I love the product, clearly made by experienced agency owners. The templates are great and the ability to create your own to suit the specifics of your agency is a big addition.
