👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm excited to share lwlnow, a web app built to help language learners improve their listening, vocabulary, and writing skills through dictation-based practice — a method that's simple, immersive, and surprisingly powerful. 🎯 Why we built it Most language apps focus on passive learning or gamified memorization. But real fluency comes from training your brain to understand native speech and respond with precision. Dictation is one of the most underrated yet effective ways to build these skills: You listen to a native sentence You type exactly what you hear You get instant feedback on spelling, grammar, and word recognition It’s like shadowing, but active — and it works incredibly well for learners at every level. 💬 Who is it for? Learners who want to internalize grammar naturally People struggling with listening comprehension Students who want daily active practice ❤️ Feedback welcome! We’re in early development and improving fast. I'd love your feedback: What do you like? What would you add/change? Which languages should we support next? Thanks for checking it out — and good luck with your language journey! 🙌 — Yigit

Maybe I missed something, but I cannot find other languages? Also, how does the vocabulary and exercises work? Have you prepared anything in the pro plan? Or? Because ATM, it is empty.

@busmark_w_nika  Thanks for your feedback!

You can add new languages or change your active languages in Settings.

@yigit_aydin Thank you. I would expect it within the main dashboard + some structure (template) so that people can follow through. E.g. basic vocabulary and phrases prepared. Because as a newbie who wants to learn, I do not know where to start.

Yigit A.

@busmark_w_nika It’s already in progress. I’ll be adding basic text sets for each language as shown below. A tutorial has also been added.

I love how you made a new solution to learn languages!

Good luck, @yigit_aydin!

@pritraveler Thank you for your feedback!

There’s also some solid research behind it. A few studies (like Kiany & Shiramiry, 2002) found that dictation improves listening comprehension, grammar accuracy, and even writing fluency. Other studies link it to better vocabulary retention and processing speed. Not bad for something this simple.

  • Kiany, G. R., & Shiramiry, E. (2002). The Effect of Frequent Dictation on the Listening Comprehension Ability of Elementary EFL Learners. TESL-EJ.

  • Rahimi, M. (2008). Using Dictation to Improve Language Proficiency. Asian EFL Journal.

  • Nation, I. S. P. (2009). Teaching ESL/EFL Listening and Speaking. Routledge — recommends dictation for processing and noticing gaps in spoken language.

@yigit_aydin Wow, those scientific researches make me trust more!

I prefer the products with evidences, especially when they're about study and health.

Thank you :)
