Grant is the best way to manage your USCIS cases natively on macOS. Instantly track status & history, take notes, attach documents, access Emma chat with one click, and much more.
Hey PH community,
As an immigrant to the US, I've went through F1 / OPT / H1B / Work-sponsored GC (yes, I have grey hair). A core part of any immigrant dealing with USCIS is checking their case status - there are some nice mobile apps to track your cases, which I've used extensively. But as someone who spends most of my time on my laptop, I've always wanted a way to track my cases right on my mac. I also wished for something more polished and personal, allowing me to not just track but also manage my cases.
That's how I decided to build Grant. It started as a fun side project (maybe a way to channel the immigration anxieties?), but as I kept improving it, I thought others could find it valuable as well. So I took it further with design polish and extra powerful features:
## Tracking is instant - it pulls your case status directly instead of going through any servers, so the status is always up to date and updates are instant (I've noticed that other apps often won't reflect status updates for many hours because they funnel requests through their own services)
## Full privacy - you don't need an account, there's no data harvesting, no ads, nothing goes to any proprietary servers.
## Case history & import - the app will record your case's history from the time you add it. If you already have your history from other apps or your online USCIS account, you can import it manually.
## One-click Emma - you can launch the Emma chat in one click to check on your case status, ask questions, and chat with agents. It also lets you save your chat transcripts for future reference.
## Case notes - space to jot down important details about the case like tracking / reference numbers, addresses, to-do's, etc.
## Case documents - you can keep & view all the important case documents in one place like your USCIS receipt notices, emails copies, application files, etc. The documents are stored locally and backed up to your iCloud privately.
## Dark / light modes, simple design, native macOS app, and more nice touches.
The app is free for basic use - you can track up to 4 cases (should cover most individuals) & track case history. The other features are paid - for now I'm just hoping to cover my costs as it's a pretty niche app. My design & privacy sensitivities prevented me from going the Ads route, even though that's what most apps use in the space.
I'm excited to share Grant with this community and see if others find it valuable. And this is just the first version! I'm already working on iPhone & iPad apps and more exciting features to power up your case management. Let me know if you have any ideas & suggestions & feedback!
Bonus: if you want to make Grant even more personal, I designed 9 more fun icons - grab it here - https://getgrant.app/#custom-icons
Amazing! Grant looks like a real game-changer for USCIS case management. It will be so helpful for staying organized and keeping track of important documents. Looking forward to trying it out!
Congratulations on your Product Hunt launch and scoring the Product of the Day with 4th Rank! Grant sounds like a useful app for managing USCIS cases on macOS. To make it even better, consider these features:
1. Integration with calendar apps for deadline reminders.
2. Multi-platform support (Windows, iOS, Android) for broader accessibility.
3. Collaborative features, allowing users to share cases with colleagues or family members.
4. Analytics to track case progress and identify patterns.
5. In-app secure document signing capabilities.
Feel free to connect on Product Hunt; I'd love to learn more about your app and exchange insights!
@realkunalmehta hey Kunal, thank you for taking the time to review and leave suggestions. These are great. I’m starting work on an iOS version and planning to add case sharing & collaboration as well. Will consider calendar integration & analytics & secure signing as well.
