A remote controlled mouse jiggler (mover) software that simulates bathroom/lunch breaks. Specifically made for people who use desktop chat apps like Teams, Slack, Discord all day to keep your status active. Start and stop it from anywhere.
I wrote busybee as a shell program for myself during the work from home craze of 2020 while I was learning Rust. I wanted a few things from it:
1. To keep me online on Microsoft Teams so I could be away from my computer for any duration of time.
2. To be able to simulate "away" time. Making myself go away on Teams automatically for a few minutes so it didn't look like I was always active.
3. If I was using my computer it should pause itself so it wouldn't get in the way of me using it.
4. The program to be able to run all day every day without having to remember to start it before stepping away.
5. Not hog computer resources.
This year I took it a step further by creating an interface around all of the functionality and adding in the remote control feature. I've been using this application myself for the better part of the last 3 years.
busybee is useful for a specific set of remote workers who are able to install software on their work computers and aren't worried about their company tracking the software that's running.
There's other tools out there that can move your mouse and keep you active. Free GitHub projects if you're tech-savvy. But I've written a few features that I wished were already out there that didn't exist, and that's what makes busybee unique. I've got a few more features in the works!
I've genuinely had a fun time writing this application and I've learned a lot along the way. I truly hope this is a useful tool for some.
