I know that the Product Hunt is at the moment place where most projects are more "corporate" or funded by VCs but there is still some amount of buildinpublic makers, indie hackers or solopreneurs.
Do you have your favourite besides those big ones? (I mean besides Levelsio or Marc Lou) 😅
For me, it is e.g.
@andreihudovich – with BlueskyMeter – Analytics for Bluesky social media
@lera_kuntsevich1 – with ClipWing – a tool for video creation
@iuliia_sh – with PaperMark – a tool for LinkedIn post creation and growing the follower base – I also like her educational posts.
(just to name a few)
Whose work do you admire the most?
Feel free to share these people.
You at least support them this way. 🙂
@cryptosymposium we need more women and I sometimes lack of inspiration when I try to find them in this space. Because most of makers are males. Thank you for sharing! :)
@busmark_w_nika i know!! and it is bad. Here in barcelona though i must say there is a strong community of women entrepreneurs. In any vertical !! I have a friend and she is the founder of the community. Very strong.
Didn’t know about any of these makers—definitely checking them out! Love seeing indie builders still pushing forward despite how much the landscape has changed.
Lately, it feels like building in public isn’t as organic as it used to be. Do you think it’s getting harder to stand out, or has the audience just shifted?
@hussein_r Hard to say. The community is really big so I do not have glimpse at everybody but I think that some guys are really exhausted so they shifted back from "public" to "private" maybe?
Who are your favourite makers btw? :)
@busmark_w_nika Yeah, that makes sense. Building in public can be exhausting, especially with the constant pressure to always share progress. I’ve noticed some makers shifting towards a more hybrid approach—still sharing, but more selectively.
As for favorite makers, Greg Isenberg is definitely on my list, and of course Marc Lou, though you already mentioned him. I find it interesting that a big part of Marc’s success comes from ShipFast and CodeFast, essentially a course on how to build and launch profitable apps. It reminds me a bit of the “selling the shovels” approach, where instead of just building, you also teach others how to do it.
That being said, I totally respect it. He’s built a strong brand, and I still find his journey really inspiring. I find it fascinating to see the different paths people take. Some go all in on SaaS, some focus on community, and others mix building with teaching.
By the way, I’ve noticed that you’re super active on Product Hunt, in fact the Queen of PH at this point. 😄 I really like that you’re taking the community approach, which I think is becoming more important to stand out today. It’s not just about launching, but about actually being part of the space and engaging.
Since you’re so deep in the community, I’d love to hear your take—do you think just building a great product is still enough, or has the game completely shifted to where teaching and engaging are just as important? And if so, what’s the best way to balance it all?
@hussein_r I follow Greg as well! :) And thank you! :)
Building a strong product is more necessity and it is not all. You need to create also good service and nothing works "lonely." My take is that when founder or someone successful also share useful tips that helped them to succeed, they get more attention, traction, and authority.
New Steve Jobs on the market :)
@busmark_w_nika I make it a point to log in daily and check out all newly launched products...there are so many brilliant ideas and for me it hard to say which ones are better since its really depends on what someone needs.
For me , it's all about how much value a product adds to someone's life. Each product brings something unique, and that's what makes exploring new launches so exciting.
Great question. I interviewed and featured a bunch here: https://buildinpublic.xyz/interviews
(the interviews have been on hold but I am planning to bring them back soon :))
@thisiskp_ Thank you for sharing :) I didn't know that you interview as well :)
Amazing , finally some women in the list. Thanks for sharing that, they were off my radar.
By the way i laughed a lot at the apart from Levels and Marc lou lol.
Here is my list:
