SendBoard for Trello - Create an email helpdesk in Trello

by

SendBoard is a Trello Power-Up that allows people to send & receive emails from within Trello. By connecting a shared email address like 'help@yourteam.com' to a board, your team can receive emails, collaborate & reply. It's like an email helpdesk in Trello.

Hello Product Hunt! I'm Mark, one of the founders of SendBoard. We're super excited to introduce you to SendBoard, a Trello Power-Up that lets people send & receive emails from within Trello 🚀. To give some background on the project, we initially came up with the idea for SendBoard to solve a problem we were having ourselves. As a team, we used Trello for organising and collaborating on all kinds of projects. But Trello didn’t provide a way for us to communicate with people outside of our team - people who weren’t using Trello. So we used a stand-alone helpdesk solution to receive and reply to client emails. This meant that team members were continuously context switching, making mistakes and wasting time and money. Why couldn’t we keep everything in Trello - a powerful tool we loved using? Thus, SendBoard was born. Our mission is to help teams get more done by allowing them to send, receive and collaborate on email without having to leave Trello - everything is in one place. Teams get to leverage the power of Trello (Power-Ups, automation & collaboration) and clients get faster turn-around times. It’s a win-win 🏆. How it works -------------- ⬇️ Receive Emails New emails appear as cards on your Trello board, with smart logic to group conversations. 💪 Collaborate Use the processes and Power-Ups you’re already familiar with to get work done in Trello. ⬆️ Reply See the full thread of email messages and internal notes, then reply without leaving Trello. @mark_fowles will received e-mails with the same topic be automatically added to the same card or will each received e-mail generate its own card?
Mark Fowles
@flavio_lima Thanks for joining the discussion! Replies will automatically be added to the same card so that you can view the entire thread in Trello. Trello card comments are also shown in-line so that team members can discuss a response before sending.

Sendboard is a great compliment for a "helpdesk" style workflow with Trello. It adds the tools and use cases that Trello misses. With Sendboard, you don't have to subscribe to another helpdesk tool -- you can use Trello and keep all your workflows in a single tool. And @mark_fowles is an amazing help if you have any questions. I wish the entire SendBoard the best!

@kristopher_lagreca Thanks so much! It's great to have you on board.

@richp_ I love your response to this! You seem like someone with a solid understanding of software for projects :). I'm interested to know how you think we should position SendBoard to help people understand the value?

Super interesting. Cool to see products built on Trello. Curious how billing works? Do I bill through sendboard or trello?
Mark Fowles
@josh_bitossi I'm happy you find it interesting. So with regard to billing, everyone starts on a free trial - you just add the Power-Up from within Trello. We haven't introduced paid plans just yet, but when we do, account and billing changes will all be done from within the Power-Up in Trello. You won't have to leave Trello, but payments and agreements are between SendBoard users and SendBoard directly.

Looks awesome but desperately needs the ability to customize the "from" email address when sending emails, extra points to change smtp server settings and sendgrid.com API integration
Mark Fowles
@zinntc Thanks for joining the discussion here! We can actually set a custom "from" address on an account - it's just not something we make available through the UI just yet. Drop us an email and we can get it set up for you. Regarding connecting to an existing SMTP server or Sendgrid API - We'll probably look at those options in future. We started with the setup that we thought most Trello users could get up and running with quickly. Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot.
