minimalist phone: creating folders
I need to say that Apple Notes and also Reminders are the most convenient for me. The option to set tags as well because sometimes I cannot recall the exact note but can reach those notes according to the tags (keywords).
@busmark_w_nika Thank you for sharing your experience with Apple Notes and Reminders. We understand the importance of features like tagging for efficient note retrieval. In Thoughts, we've implemented similar functionalities to enhance your note-taking experience:
Hashtags for Categorization: You can use hashtags (e.g., #meeting) within your notes to categorize and easily retrieve related content.
@Titles for Organization: Assign titles to your notes using the @ symbol, enhancing structure and searchability.
Pinning Important Notes: Keep essential notes easily accessible by pinning them to the top of your list.
We believe these features provide a streamlined and intuitive experience, ensuring your thoughts are organized and easily retrievable. We'd love for you to try Thoughts and share your feedback on how these functionalities meet your needs.

Wow, your list is comprehensive. How many users do you have? :)
@busmark_w_nika Thank you! 😊 We're excited to bring a simple yet powerful note-taking experience. Thoughts is still in its early stages, but we’ve had an amazing response from people who love privacy-first, offline tools. Our community is growing every day, and we can’t wait to see how users shape its future! 🚀
What I love about this:
Thoughts doesn’t require constant syncing or any cloud service: feels refreshing to know that my notes are only on my device and nowhere else.
The minimalist design would make the app feel really smooth to use, which keeps me focused on my actual ideas rather than the interface.
One thing I’d like to see in the future, though, is optional local encryption or a way to backup or export notes in different formats. That would give me total peace of mind when it comes to both privacy and organization.
@pranay12 Thank you! We're glad you appreciate the privacy-first and minimalist approach of Thoughts.
🔒 Encryption & Backups – We hear you! While Thoughts already supports manual import/export, we're actively exploring local encryption and more flexible backup formats. Our goal is to keep everything private while giving users full control over their data.
Would love to hear your thoughts on what backup formats would be most useful!
@dheeraz3x10 I prefer flexibility, ease of editing, and compatibility with tools like Obsidian (I use this daily as of now), so open formats like (.md) or (.txt) would be great options as backup formats!
@pranay12 That makes a lot of sense! Open formats like .md and .txt align perfectly with our philosophy of giving users full control over their data. We'll definitely consider adding them to our backup/export options.
Thanks for sharing your workflow! Obsidian is a great tool—curious, would seamless import/export between Thoughts and Obsidian be something you'd find useful? 🚀
This sounds like a great launch! I personally love the idea of having notes stored locally with no cloud tracking—gives a sense of control and privacy that’s hard to find these days. As for the minimalist design, if it’s anything like what Apple and Material UI have inspired, I imagine it’ll be clean and efficient, which is always a plus. The offline-first feature is interesting too, especially for people who like to work without distractions or internet dependency. One suggestion I have is maybe adding a feature for easy syncing between devices, even if it's offline-focused. Looking forward to seeing the final product!
@onbing Thank you for your encouraging feedback! We're delighted that the privacy-first, local storage, and minimalist design of Thoughts resonate with you. Your suggestion for device syncing is insightful. While we currently offer manual import and export features to facilitate data transfer between devices, we're actively exploring secure, offline-friendly synchronization methods that align with our commitment to user privacy. Implementing such a feature presents challenges, but we're dedicated to finding solutions that maintain the integrity and privacy of your data. Your input is invaluable as we continue to enhance Thoughts, and we look forward to delivering a product that meets your expectations.
@onbing @dheeraz3x10 I agree the offline-first element is interesting for the app. In the case you lost your device/it was damaged would there be any way to retrieve the notes since its only locally stored?
@onbing @luke_arwayda Great question! Since Thoughts is fully local and privacy-first, there's no cloud backup by design. However, we do offer manual import/export so users can back up their notes wherever they prefer.
We're also exploring automatic local backups and export formats like .md and .txt for easier recovery. Would a scheduled local backup feature be something you'd find useful?
Hey, good luck with the launch!
Here is my honest feedback:
- Locally not locally doesnt matter to me. I use iOS Notes app for quick notes that I don't care if I loose over time, I don't keep anything important there. All importnat notes I keep in Notion as I can access it on my desktop as well and have a great organisation.
- Clean and simple always wins the game.
- Isn't iOS Notes the same?
- Yes. I found your product through your website (you should have shared a link here). I'm not sure you are looking for feedback on your product or just answering the questions here. Anyway I saw your product. I don't find it very useful, it's not superrior to Notes app in anyway to make me convert. I'm not sure what's the usecase for your app. Design wise (I'm a designer with lots of experience) I like that it's simple. Make the notes text stend out more, and make the buttons and tags less visible. Right now they are so visible that they take the spotlight and I have hard time seeing my notes. Make the about text less visible (smaller, hidden or grey text).
Hope this helps. Good luck
@mzkvisuals Thank you for your honest feedback, Kaloian! We appreciate different perspectives.
🔹 iOS Notes vs. Thoughts – While Apple Notes is great, Thoughts is built for those who want a distraction-free, privacy-first experience without cloud sync. It’s fast, lightweight, and works fully offline. No logins, no tracking—just you and your notes.
🎨 Design Suggestions – That’s a great point about text visibility. We’ll experiment with refining the UI to make notes stand out more while keeping tags and buttons less prominent. Your insights as a designer are super helpful!
We’re always improving, and we’d love to hear what would make it more useful for you! 😊
