Do you think AI tools should be made to help students think more on their own?

by

Yesterday i saw a discussion by @hamza_afzal_butt Do you think AI is improving education, or does it make students too dependent?

so here i am sharing my thoughts about AI learning as i am also buliding AI exam tool :)

AI makes learning easier, but if it just gives answers, students might stop thinking for themselves. (not good, right)

That’s why I’m building PrepareBuddy-an AI study assistant that guides learning instead of just providing quick solutions. It breaks down topics, offers step-by-step explanations, and encourages critical thinking.

The goal is to help students learn, not replace the learning process.

What do you think—should AI tools challenge students rather than just giving instant answers?

Absolutely! There is sooooo much potential for AI to be used to scaffold reasoning and learning. I often find myself going down "wormholes" asking for more and more detail on how to approach certain problems, and I'm honestly learning more & faster with AI than I ever did without.

I think it makes a lot of sense to build tooling specifically catered to to this for students. When my daughter was studying for SATs, GPT was brand new, and it was super useful in breaking down problems and identifying first principles. It would have been really cool to have had a more structured/guided experience back then.
