Raycast is the command center for all your tools and workflows. With the new Extensions API you can build and share powerful productivity tools in no time. Supercharge your productivity by installing community extensions from the Store in one click.
@fotoflo In short: Easier to use, more features for free, more powerful with a React + TypeScript API, sharing extensions via our Store and links and soon ready to use in your team setup.
@thomaspaulmann OK I want to try it. I'm an Alfred super user and have TONS of important shortcuts (and even scripts I wrote) for alfred... Is there a good way to import them?
@fotoflo@thomaspaulmann I was also looking for a comparison between Alfred and Raycast. Thanks!
I would also love to know if there is some kind of migration service available (or in the future) to move workflows to Raycast?
Still lacking in the ability to chain commands together, but otherwise Raycast is evolving pretty nicely and with this trend will become the best app for this purpose. In many ways already is, but still room for improvement though.
Been using it since I received my new computer a month ago. So much more ambitious than previous similar tools.. the way anyone can build an extension and the interface is taken care of, and familiar. I installed a todo extension, and it just works like you'd expect. Plus there are always updates and new features. I made my own extensions to search Google Maps for a place name, and to open up a TV show search on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
@andrewprojdent Awesome to hear that Andrew and how cool is it that you were able to build something already. BTW I'm also based in London and love the stuff you did with AR. Keep up your great work as well.
@mehdidjabri Amazing to hear how long you've stayed with us. Now, you should save even more time and energy with every extension you install from the Store (or build yourself).
@thomaspaulmann yes extensions are great, I love to use the Linear and Figma ones. I look forward to publish our own Iteration X extension on the Raycast store soon after we launch.
From the moment I first installed Raycast it became indispensable. After many years of enthusiastic powerpacked Alfred use, I left it behind without more than a moment's sadness for the parting of old friends. I'm far too delighted by meeting the multitool love of my life in Raycast. Within all my flowery expressions of undying love, I'll say this: it does everything I need it to and far more. This is one of my top 5 favourite apps ever on macos (and might be top 2 if I really had to choose). Thank you, team and Raycast, I love ya
I've been using Raycast for months and it's by far one of my favorite apps. The product and the team behind it are fantastic. I set up my new MacBook this week and guess which app I have installed first? π
Raycast has been my `β + Space` hero since launch. I've been playing around with their new store + extensions this morning and it is :chefs_kiss:. Can't wait to see the ecosystem develop.
@davej Thanks Dave, you're probably one of our OG's and first users! Can't wait what you'll build with the API and how the Store will shape your workflows.
Raycast is one of my favorite macOS apps now, been using it since early days and love it, really helpful for productivity. Thomas and Raycast team is doing superb job!
Hey all π
Thomas from the Raycast Team here. Weβre super excited to open up our API and Store to everyone and share it with the PH community today. Thanks Michael for the hunt!
We launched Raycast a year ago on Product Hunt. Since then we shipped a ton of features to save you time on everyday tasks: Quicklinks let you seamlessly navigate the web and your computer. Snippets speed up your writing by inserting frequently used text. Clipboard History makes copied content searchable. Window management keeps your desktop tidy. The list goes on and on. These features made Raycast an indispensable tool for thousands of developers and designers.
Today, we're thrilled to release our platform for productivity tools and making Raycast extendable. Our API lets developers build extensions with React and TypeScript in no time. They can tap into the massive npm ecosystem to simplify their daily workflows. We wanted to create an end-to-end experience. With our Store, everybody can discover and share their extensions. Our community jumped on the platform during the beta phase of the platform and built more than 100 extensions already, including Figma file search, home automation and GitLab integration.
We can't wait to see what you're gonna build with our API. Also, I'm super happy to answer any questions!
I switched from Alfred to give Raycast a try and never went back.
Amazing work. It would be too easy to take a high level view and say "but Spotlight and Alfred already do this" - it's the ultra-integrated nature [with the services I use] and customisation of Raycast that make it so good.
Imagine being able to search and take action in tools that you use every day, from a simple keyboard shortcut - search (and do much more) in Figma, Jira, Notion + hundreds of other products.
I may end up selling my mouse. ;-)
been using this for quite sometime doing things between project mgmt tools and dev tools in one UI is sick, can't wait to see more of these integrations
