Hi Product Hunt community! 👋 I'm Yossi, a solo indie maker taking my first steps into product development.
Today, I'm excited to share my first creation - a tool inspired by Poopup. I want to be transparent: while my product shares similarities with Poopup, it's been built entirely from scratch as a learning exercise, with some key enhancements added along the way.
Why did I choose this approach?
1. Learning Experience: Building a familiar concept allowed me to focus on the development process without getting stuck on ideation.
2. Skill Development: It was a practical way to sharpen my technical abilities across the full stack.
3. Innovation Opportunity: Starting with a known concept gave me a foundation to build upon and add my own improvements.
4. Proof of Concept: This project demonstrates my ability to take an idea from 0 to 100 as a solo developer, while also innovating.
Some enhancements I've added include clickable notifications, change placement, active/inactive sites & notifications, etc.
My goal wasn't to compete with Marc but to challenge myself, prove I could build a fully functional product, and add value through new features. This experience has been invaluable, and I'm eager to apply these lessons to more original ideas in the future.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. How do you view projects inspired by existing products, especially when they introduce new features?
Thanks for checking out my work!
