Imagine that u re launching ur startup related to the sale of goods over the “internet”, where would u look for u first free users to test hypothesis?!
Tiktok, reddit, X, instagram etc.
I'm building an app that helps find the platforms tailored to the product. I don't have a big list platforms for ecommerce audience yet but there are a few. You can check it out here: https://launchrampp.com
@slimmy82 Yes, I think this is the most important thing, because "social marketing" sounds very extensive. I want something more understandable, some small instructions😂
@rmarlow this is hard for me because in-line product hunt, Reddit can be brutal and people can get nasty. So I reached out to a subreddits moderator first. Explained I was doing a beta test and if I had approval from the to post. Then I’m the post I started by saying this is moderator approved. I was super honest about my intentions (not to sell anything but to get redditors feedback) because I value their honesty. I got 30 testers and I also got some upvotes and also still had complainers…
Reddit is all about genuine replies and being very very cautious with how you self promote. Very different to here on product hunt.
So to answer your question, always make it about them, be transparent, and never just push anything on to them. If you notice someone is interested, just DM them instead of responding on the thread.
Hey everyone, I'm curious to hear about your experiences in finding the first users for an E-commerce startup. Have you had success with any specific strategies or platforms? Also, have you considered reaching out to your personal network or leveraging social media channels to attract potential users? I've found that offering exclusive discounts or promotions can be a great way to incentivize early adopters. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and insights on this!
I leverage social media platforms, engage in targeted online communities, and consider influencer partnerships to find your first users for an e-commerce startup.
