I personally think that video tutorials are great. Especially useful for people who aren’t that tech savvy or don’t want to spend time figuring out how to do things themselves. Zero harm having tutorials available as long as they’re not compulsory to watch .
Video tutorials can be very helpful of course, but I think interactive tutorials would be even better. Lerning by doing > learning by watching, and not the problem that it's too fast or too slow for some.
@konrad_sx agree, when product tours work for your product I would also do it. But I think it's the same problem. There are always people who skip it. In the end the various onboarding and help resources make a nice user experience I guess.
I wouldn't put videos inside the app, in our product culture that's been lazy for not improving the UX and wanting a quick fix...
We complemented our product with some blog articles explaining how to use it -- but not inside the app per se
But whatever works! Share your discoveries (:
We have been requested a lot by our customers to put our video tutorials on our website and product. It makes information easily accessible, and also reduces support queries
In view of the Product Hunt, I think that rather than a tutorial, it would be good to have some kind of teaser that illustrates the application as a whole in a few seconds.
On the other hand, in terms of documentation, tutorials are certainly useful in video format but at the same time are prone to quickly become obsolete due to fixes and new features
@joonatanvanhala it depends on the learning type I guess. When I think about my father, he is always reading the instructions and watching videos before using a product. Maybe it's also a generation thing
Truly, this article is one of the very best in the history of articles. I am an antique ’Article’ collector and I sometimes read some new articles if I find them interesting. And I found this one pretty fascinating and it should go into my collection. Very good work. amexrewardcard com
I recommend videos that go straight to the point, without fuss like at Homeworkify Thank you for helping people get the information they need. Great stuff as usual. Keep up the great work. HomeWorkify
Videos are great, but people tend to overdo them, make them too long. You can solve the problem in 30 seconds, then dont make a 5 video video. thanks from cogat cogat test
Videos are helpful, but GIF better, depending on the subject. if you can explain it in simple terms, then i recommend GIFs. write the instructions then insert a 5 second GIF video in the text where needed. iready diagnostic scores
