Do your homework. As someone who gets 50+ cold messages a day through LinkedIn, Twitter and Email, there is nothing more frustrating than someone not knowing why their product or service is a fit for me. The more personal you can be the better. Blanketing is something I rarely see working these days and individual outreach and relationship building will benefit you so much more in the long run.

@davefunnellab Hey Dave, thank you for that insight. How much material do you like to see at first contact? Do you expect to see a pitch deck or extensive written partnership plan before getting on an intro call?
Dave @ FunnelLab
@fam_socialfinance I wouldn’t say I need anything extensive, but a clear understanding of the business and how you can help is a must. People don’t want to know what you can do, they want to know what you can do specifically for them.

@davefunnellab OK thank you, would you prefer to see that in just the body of an email then?
Dave @ FunnelLab
@fam_socialfinance I don’t think it matters. The main thing is you understand me. Telling me you can save me $10,000 is great, but if I turn over $100m a year then that saving is pretty meaningless. That’s a simplistic example but I think it makes my point?

@fam_socialfinance @davefunnellab This "sounds good" but I doubt this is it. The reason why you don't respond is because the message isn't compelling enough, that's it. If I was to message you and say "Hey, I'm a GTM expert and I can help your 4X your inbound leads for FunnelLab which are typically B2B mid-market companies" Would you respond and be eager to get on a call with this guy? I doubt so. I wouldn't. It's missing something. There's no intrigue or curiosity here so I would simply ignore and not engage

- Be really good at reading signals for buying intent - Have a really great offer - Have really awesome personalization And if you get those 3 things right at BEST you will get 10% reply rate if you are sending thousands of emails monthly. The "north star" should be 25% but that's practically impossible to hit very early at scale because that requires insane amount of investments

@frenchmajesty cold outreach is incredibly hard, it’s even harder with a complete lack of personalisation. If you are wanting results with cold outreach like the original post was asking, you HAVE to be personal.

@davefunnellab Yep, I mentioned it as the 3rd point 🙂 it’s a must-have but the other 2 are much greater levers for more conversion to sales (not necessarily replies)
