(Solo-)Makers: how do you stay disciplined?

When you‘re working on a project: do you ever get distracted? How do you stay focused and on track? My own approaches: visualize the outcome I want to achieve and then break this down into small, manageable chunks. Still, I get sidetracked and fall into rabbit holes. Any idea on how to avoid this?

I totally get how easy it is to get sidetracked! One thing that's really helped me is time-blocking

@eliasladenburger Clearly understanding what you're not good at and what you excel is crucial. I believe this is the foundation for maintaining long-term focus.

If you are having fun with what you are doing, you actually need to discipline yourself to set it aside and engage in other activities as well.

@viktorbresan that is valid point I guess. But then for me there is usually something that I am less passionate about. How do you push yourself to get these things done as well?

@eliasladenburger Well, you already have your small, manageable chunks, even if you are not particularly passionate about some of them. Decide to reward yourself with a pleasurable activity if you don't get sidetracked and fall into any rabbit holes while completing them.

For me, staying disciplined comes from treating my solo work like a 9-to-5 job. Having fixed hours helps me structure my day, and I give myself breaks in between for relaxation.
