Picking between urgent vs important in daily life

I'm looking to understand how can one decide choosing between urgent vs important. This is applicable for daily tasks, product features, bug fixes and many other scenarios. For instance in a product while it is important to have multi-platform support, that may get overshadowed by urgent feature requests, bug fixes etc. and the important becomes ignored. How does one strike the right balance?
