iOS or Android?

@sugar_free_app Nice one :) I just think the option to debug devices and build an run an apk without having to go through a gatekeeper saves lots of time. And I also have always loved the casting options.

@tracker_3 APK is indeed a very convenient feature. But doesn't security suffer from this? We can only hope that Apple will solve this problem by introducing alternative stores, which will still control security standards at the App Store level in the future.

@cyprien_brn Thanks for the opinion, and I agree that pairing with Apple is like magic. But the two platforms do borrow a lot from each other, and lately the actual platforms don't differ on many quality criteria. It's interesting to see how many people here are from the Apple camp.

@muzammil_22 I agree with your experience. What exactly did you find better on iOS after Android?

@sugar_free_app Their multipeer connectivity was definitely one of the first features of their overall architecture that stood out to me. As a designer, I prefer their UI over several Android brands' UI. I also enjoy the seamless workflow it enables with subtle nudges and shortcuts. Besides these, there are multiple apps that design extra features (even if it's for delight) for iOS users.

@muzammil_22 Persuasive reasoning. I completely agree that iOS is more about user experience and convenience than anything else. For me personally, this is also one of the main factors that influenced my choice, in addition to the certainty of stable operation of all the innovations being introduced, which although appearing earlier on Android, often don't work as they should. I like Apple's approach, which doesn't introduce anything until it is sure of the quality.

@copyfrog, you think Android is not good enough? Try using Xiaomi's operating system instead. Although their latest OS is a bit better, it still has a lot of ads everywhere.

@nik_shilov I think everyone realizes that both systems have their advantages and disadvantages, no system is absolutely perfect. It's just a matter of preference. Now the systems are closer than ever to each other in terms of functionality, and after the release of iOS 18 it will be almost imperceptible.

@luca3927 for me, too. But I'm still open to trying Android too, just as an experience. Thank you for sharing.

@sugar_free_app makes sense, I am all in with the Apple ecosystem, so the level of functionality that is provides makes sense for me to stay there - e.g. the continuity stuff, etc is really nice. I have on times considered (and am still considering) moving to a "dumb" phone just to get a break and be more present in the world. For example, have you ever considered the impact phones have on conversations? Before we had smart phones if we had a debate with someone or wanted to know a piece of information, we would have to wait until we had a computer around us or got home.... now we instantly pickup our phone and get the answer. The rate of information flowing to us is so much faster. Sure overall that is a good thing but can also be a bad thing, considering the amount of information always available, I for one am always "consuming". I never have a break just to be with my thoughts. I am actively trying to do that now, its good but hard to do due to habits :)

@luca3927 Thanks for such a philosophical and detailed answer, Luca 🫶🏻🙌 I agree that in the age of technology we have become too dependent on gadgets, but personally for me it is more of a plus than a minus, without exaggeration, all my workspace is now on my phone, and it is always at hand. About detox from the excessive flow of information - sometimes it's really necessary, just running it through your brain can cause a lot of problems, your head just can't take it. But the funny thing is that I have both an iPhone and a Nokia cordless phone, but the cordless one is still gathering dust on my desk, even though it has two more SIM cards installed. I use it mostly for receiving text messages. Ha.

Yeah I agree 100% is it more of a plus than a minus too, just need to strike a balance which I guess in summary of what I was trying to say is, I find it hard to do 🙂. Interesting about your iPhone vs Nokia. I haven't actually gone back to a non-smart phone so I wonder if that would happen to me too... I suspect it would, thanks for sharing!

@evgeniy_vl It's very hard to choose just once because many reasons are here for me. But I choose usability.

Yes, pairing feature works great. Totally agree. I myself own a variety of devices from headphones to macbook. I second this evaluation parameter on your part. It really creates a memorable user experience. @james_miller26

@vaibhavdwivedi However, after years of using both platforms, have you noticed any advantages of one that the other doesn't have?

@sugar_free_app Android is good if you want to mess around with tons of customization on almost all aspects and iOS when you get tired of it and want something simple/neat/clean/gets the job done.

@sugar_free_app Still Android, but that might change with the next iPhone haha. Personally, I think it's the ecosystem that reels you in. MacBook is an extremely reliable device, and now that I have it, it's difficult to resist the switch to the iPhone.

@kshitij11 I feel you. I think both platforms though have started borrowing the best from each other, but iPhone is still better in terms of usability and standards. Hopefully with the new releases you can join the iOS camp. 🍎😌
